Mercury lived the life of many ordinary hatchlings. On the same morning of his hatching, he was carted out with his brothers and sisters to be sold to another clan. And at the end of the day, when he had failed to sell, he was relinquished to war. Under the watchful gaze of the Icewarden he trained relentlessly, stoic and distant. To him it was worth it. To prove to himself and others that he was better than canon fodder, better than two thousand and twenty one metal coins. That he was worthy enough to feel loved.

He stopped at nothing to accomplish his impossible task. Day and night, battle after battle, he pushed forward. He carried on in stained plat armour and dulled weapons, rusting and cracking under the weight of his woes.
All up until the day he died.

A decisive battle placed him upon the soft shores of his ancestral homeland, the sand sinking slightly between his heavy, webbed toes. The sights, the sounds, the soft breeze that entertained the beachgrass that stood tall betwixt heavy rounded stones and wrecked coral. Rotting slivers and slabs of wood wedged between crevices house thousands of tiny little bugs and crabs. Fish swam in tight pools collected on the harbor. Birds sat precariously close, heckling and guffawing with their high-pitched calls at the armour-clad sentry below. And together, it was all just... enough. Just enough to hold his attention, while a wave rose in the sky behind him. Crashing down, it ripped Mercury into the open sea, swinging him into darkness while the weight of his platemail dragged him under. The jeering, glowing eyes of his opponents passed him, silhouetted by the surface of the sea, growing dimmer and dimmer as he sunk into the abyss.
He awoke hours, maybe days later. Covered in seacrust and barnacles, declared dead by his deity. Born anew.

With Mercury's freedom once more within his grasp, he set off into the world with his very own charge, one declared and decided for himself, by himself: To defeat the draconic gods of Sorineth, or to die trying.
And somehow, someway... that search led him here.

Frous
Male
A gaseous bird that likes to annoy dragons and familiars that haven't proven themselves stronger than itself. While Frous is often aloof around dragons in particular, it can often be found hiding in Mercury's apparel. Or unattended bags. Or unattended glass bowls. In fact, it's just best to keep an eye on this tricky gyre whenever possible.

Bound Trinket

An elegant spear gifted to Mercury by Opal. He doesn't want to damage it in his brutal training sessions, so Mercury only uses it in true battle. As such, many have grown to fear its presence.
