Tik
Healer

"I've never met someone I couldn't heal. Sure, there have been bones that won't mend, wounds that scar, but they always leave happier than when they arrived."

Tik's Story
Tik was forced to flee the rest of his family when he was barely a week old after a beastclan attack left his home in tatters. He fled in terror through the Windswept Plateu, beastclan warriors in pursuit for days on end. When he crossed into the Southern Icefield he hoped they would cease their pursuit - but they continued chasing him through the bleak landscape.
Tik was almost too tired to notice how the trees twisted together behind him as he flew, how the grass seemed to grab at the legs of the pursuing beasts and trip them up.

When he finally came to the edge of a cave, the noise of the beastclan warriors had faded completely. Exhausted, hungry, and covered in cuts and bruises, he barely managed to scramble towards the open space before collapsing.

When he finally came to, Azair had been tending to his wounds. Azair looked after Tik until he felt well enough to leave - but then he decided not to. He trained as a healer instead, learning the properties of herbs and chemical concoctions so he could one day pay back Azair for saving an sheltering him.

History
Tik groaned in discomfort as fresh waves of pain rolled over his body. His stomach growled, his mouth felt dry and uncomfortable, and his head pounded as if something was trying to break into his skull, or out of it.
He struggled to open his eyes but they felt heavy with sleep.

"Hush, little one."

Tik felt a fresh jolt of fear as the voice sounded above his head. Moments later something soggy and cold was pushed against his snout. After a moment he realised it was fabric soaked in water.
"Drink, it'll make you feel better."
The voice came again and Tik whimpered with anxiety, his throat too sore to create any words. He heard footsteps walking away from him but remained still a moment longer. He cautiously reached out with his snout and pressed it against the fabric, loosening a mouthful of water. It was cold and soothed his throat.
A tantalising smell caught his attention and he slowly managed to blink open his eyes.

A small pile of insects had been left just within reaching distance and Tik felt his stomach urging him on as he lunged towards it. He stopped right before reaching them as he felt eyes bore into his back.
Tik twisted his head to see a pearlcatcher sat, watching him from the edge of a crystal clear pool almost exactly in the middle of the clear space in the cave.

Almost immediately he curled back into the nest he'd awoken in, never taking his eyes off the dragon. He tensed even more as the dragon got to it's feet and moved towards him. Tik shut his eyes tight as it got closer.
"You're safe here." The same voice came again, gradually getting closer. "Please eat something."
Tik warily opened one eye as he heard scuffling by his head. He realised the pearlcatcher was pushing the pile of insects even closer towards him.
Tik reached out cautiously and grabbed one, he pulled it back into his nest and devoured it with short, rapid bites.

When he finished, he swiped his tongue around his snout feeling a lot better. "Where am I?" He asked. Glancing around the cave curiously. It's flower covered floor and rocky outcrops were nothing like he'd ever seen before.
"I'm not quite sure." The pearlcatcher admitted, following Tik's gaze around the clearing. "I've lived here for a few weeks now though."
After a small silence in which Tik busied himself with stretching out, nervously testing the pain radiating through his limbs the pearlcatcher spoke again.
"Why were you running. You're too young to leave a nest, let alone be on your own out here."

Tik gazed up at the pearlcatcher and saw a surprising rush of warmth in it's eyes. Slightly settled by this Tik began awkwardly with what he could remember of the attack. His emotions bubbled up as he described leaving his family behind until the words flowed out of him just like the tears from his eyes.
The pearlcatcher watched him sympathetically and lay down to listen. When Tik finished he murmured softly "I'm so sorry that happened to you, it must've been terrifying."
Tik didn't reply, the emotionally harrowing tale had drained his strength and he lay his head across his feet.
"You're welcome to stay as long as you'd like." The pearlcatcher continued. "My names Azair. What's yours?"

Tik blinked up at Azair and felt a sense of security within the flower carpeted clearing. "I'm Tik." He replied simply.
Azair smiled at him before getting up and letting his tail brush gently over the hatchlings flank. "You rest, I'll find you some more food."
Tik murmured his thanks and lay his head back across his feet. A warm shaft of sunlight fell over him and the sweet scent of flowers filled his senses. I like it here he thought to himself, maybe I should stay a while.
