Rook is a spirited oceanographer who talks rather animatedly. He has an athletic physique due to his time spent in the ocean fighting against the strong currents to collect data. He is rather passionate and puts his all into everything he does. He respects Niben as a leader and warrior, and will follow his orders with only some complaints. He shares his hatchday with Scully, who he looks up to as a parental figure.

Originally trained as warrior under Niben, Rook comes from Fishspine Reef. The oceans always interested him and he began to study them in between his lessons. He left with Niben and Scully to Outpost Toast, excited to study the oceans of the Shifting Expanse.
As one of Niben's personally trained warriors, Rook is bold and unflinching in battle. His mastery of the trident is to be both feared and admired. He excels at teamwork, and always encourages his teammates with cheers of support. He has a friendly rivalry with Damien. Rook and Nautilus are best friends and they often spar together. They also go fishing together, bringing in huge hauls for the outpost. Rook spends his free time training, working out, or playing volleyball with Damien, Niben, Nautilus, and Drake. He is also good friends with Temper, and would do anything for him at the drop of a hat. He tries to encourage Temper to join in more activities with surprising patience. Rook has recently discovered that he harbours romantic feelings for the Spiral, and has taken to dropping hints that he likes him. |
