Biography
Originally an exiled prince, Beowulf's journey to godhood started as a mere mortal.
Beowulf was born an illegitimate son of a king and was cast from a now-desolate kingdom, but later found by a neighboring kingdom's general. He was raised as the general's own son and became a dedicated and clever tactician.
After the general became king after a long and bloody war against the previous cruel king, Beowulf worked diligently to repay his adoptive father's kindness, and became respected for his contributions in the war and in legitimizing his father's rule.
However, when a coup from the previous monarchy overtook the throne and assassinated his father, Beowulf led an uprising in revenge for his father's death. The final battle resulted in a successful uprising, but Beowulf himself had passed leading the charge. His death marked him as a martyr and the resulting democracy honored him as a beloved revolutionary figure.
Over time, the people elevated him to godhood, and he now watches over and protects the kingdom which worshipped him.
His power is no stronger than that of a minor deity, but his intelligence and skill in battle strategy proves him as a worthy advisor and opponent alike. Many seek his counsel in terms of war, even if he is not a particularly strong deity in terms of magic.
He is aligned only with his kingdom, and often uses his powers to guard the citadel and its people from attackers. In terms of other deities, he typically stays away, as his origin as a mortal and lack of interest in godly wars marks him as an outcast. However, he is close with Iusticia, as their similar pasts as former mortals allow them to understand each other more than many others.
