Berry

Lore w.i.p. Diamonddust's mate. He always misses her when she leaves for her research trips around Sornieth, but he knows she'll always return home.

During one of Diamond's unusually long trips, however, Berry started to worry, especially when she didn't send any letters back home. He waited another week or so, hoping she was just busy. But as the week crawled by, he decided to go look for her.

He searched all over Sornieth, asking clans for help if they've seen her, until his trail ended at Churnscar Wharf. He met with a pink-and-black Imperial by the name of Eros, and he told Berry the sad news...

No...No...she couldn't be...Diamond can't be gone...

But Eros' eyes told the truth, and he spoke of what happened. His own mate Eris had struck Diamond with a love arrow, making her fall in love with another dragon, and forgetting Berry. Diamond had had eggs with the one named Macaron, and she later died of a broken heart when she was banished from the home of the vampire lords, never to see her children again. But Eros spoke of Diamond's daughter, Misty, being cared for by the vampires.

Berry flew off, leaving Eros behind, making his way up to the mansion to speak to the vampire lords. He was almost ordered to leave, but Berry offered his services to them, and to care for Diamond's child, Misty. Lord Leech recognized the same sorrow in his eyes as Diamond had, and allowed Berry to work for him and Calyptra, taking some of his blood every full moons.

"For goodness sake, could you not knock over all my furniture?"
The dazed pink coatl, who happened to guard her fiance and was also currently excelling remarkably at being a pain in her rear, looked up and blinked.
Jasmine scowled at him, tail flicking impatiently from side-to-side, and waited for him to shrink back or apologize or grovel like the rest of the servants she'd come across.
"Uh, sorry."
The mass of pink feathers and monarch wings rose and shook himself off, before pushing her dresser back into its original position. It teetered dangerously and Jasmine darted forward to steady it before it crashed against the floor. Again.
She glared at him, and he shrugged.
"I mean, I tried," he offered, and her brown eyes narrowed in annoyance.
"What's your name?" she asked, wondering vaguely if she should report him to Kaol, but wasn't expecting him to grin at her. It caught her by surprise and she resisted the urge to smile back.
I'm mad at him. Don't smile, for goodness sake.
"Berry."
She choked a laugh, silently scolding herself that that was rude, but couldn't help it anymore than she could help the stranger's antics. "Berry?"
He made a face at her, catching her again by surprise with his expression and his accompanying sassy reply, "Hey, you're named after a flower, I'm named after a fruit. Anything goes."
He shrugged again and said humorously, "Apparently our parents ran out of creative options by the time they got to us."
Jasmine's lips quirked in unwilling amusement, even though he'd basically just told her that her name was unoriginal, and raised her tail like a plume. "First of all, I'm the oldest of my siblings-"
"So your parents were never creative to begin with?"
She shot a glare at him and he shut his smiling mouth.
"-and," she went on, wondering vaguely why she was still having this conversation, "-and at least 'Jasmine' is a kind of flower. You could've been..."
She eyed him the tones of pinks swirling all across his lithe, slender body. "...Strawberry or Raspberry or something."
