▉ info. bonanza is a bit of a mess. in all honesty, 'a bit' might be an understatement. he and his boyfriend are the result of a screwed-up experiment at the observatory, and are literally piles of cosmic and radioactive waste given dragon form. they're powered purely by the innate magic of the starfall isles and the pure energy given off by the cosmic radiation inside them. anyone who comes close to bonanza will realize that he's no normal dragon- his aura and scent are intense and occasionally just seem wrong. he's blindingly colorful, and usually sheds some sort of pale green glow from his scales and eyes. bonanza also drips green slime occasionally. despite the unfortunate circumstances of his entire existence, bonanza refuses to let them bog him down. he's usually quite cheerful and sociable, if a bit eccentric. actually, no, bonanza is really hecking eccentric, and may say strange things at times. however, he really means no harm and enjoys trying to make friends. it doesn't always work, but bonanza is a very persistent soul. he's extremely loyal and fiercely protective of his friends and clanmates, especially his significant other, plutonium. bonanza is usually quite unpredictable and enjoys doing that- he despises the thought of being boring or falling into a predictable pattern. bonanza is also a bit of a science fanatic and is extremely smart with chemistry, which is a given, considering his origins. bonanza's best friend is technically his boyfriend plutonium, since he spends the most time with him, but apart from plutonium, bonanza also enjoys spending a lot of time with the chemist polaris and the seelie court's scout and healer, eterne. and he's also happy to hang out with anyone who asks- he's very friendly, even if he's a bit mercurial. also, he is gayer than a tree full of rainbow-colored parrots. |
▉ story. bonanza's 'birth' took a very long time. in simplest terms, he coalesced from a swarm of magical radioactive energy from a spell gone haywire in the observatory. the mages had intended to get rid of the leftover radioactive energy from the getgo, but it resisted and began to form shape. curious, the mages and scholars allowed it to continue on. in what was basically a mess of interdimensional radiadtion, consciousness was forming. the consciousness struggled to form itself from the haze of intense, swirling energy and magic that surrounded it. eventually, as it fought ferociously to overcome the magics keeping it from becoming solid, it split into two separate minds. after months and months, the first consciousness grew a solid form and broke free- bonanza. as he collapsed onto the floor of the observatory with waves of poisonous radiation rolling off him, the mages rushed to take care of the mess. in the chaos left behind by his birth, the second consciousness still grappled to come free- a task made even harder by the turmoil caused by bonanza's formation. but eventually, it would come to existence. when the second consciousness came to life- plutonium, bonanza's literal soulmate- the two became an inseparable duo. they were the talk of the town around the observatory, all the mages and scientists chattering with excitement over the life that they had created. bonanza enjoyed learning, and the two of them were always treated well, but soon they were desperate to see more of the world. they journeyed out into the starfall isles and met the pleiades system clan. after hearing more about them, they decided to settle down. |

▉ role. bonanza is one of the clan's sentries. as a literal pile of radioactive waste, he has an interesting ability to dissolve himself into sheer radioactive energy, which allows him to camoflage himself quite well. additionally, being in the eldritch side of the starfall isles enhances his ability even more, as his origins stem from pure arcane energy. he usually stands guard near the clan lair's entrance instead of going out patrolling, though he occasionally goes out further to watch for visitors as well. basically, bonanza is a multifunctional guard, as he's very resilient to the magic energies in the air. on occasion, when the magical energy cycles hit their most intense period and their lair is basically unapproachable, bonanza mines for crystals in the surrounding territory. these crystals are used to help the mages' spells. |

▉ notes on relationship.
bonanza is usually lighthearted, no matter what the situation is- he may be eccentric and weird, but he keeps his mood on the positive side generally. but when it comes to plutonium, there is no room for jokes or mistakes- bonanza is protective of everyone, but he takes it all the way up to eleven when plutonium is put in danger. plutonium has an.... an interesting, very dangerous condition (elaborated on here), which makes his life very restricted and precarious. as a result, bonanza is extremely defensive of plutonium and desperately wants to make sure he can live a happy life like a normal dragon. bonanza is very devoted to plutonium, especially since the two of them literally formed from the same magical essence. they are linked together on a fundamental level and are basically always glued together. |
