Biography
Name: Caol Status: Fire Flight Ambassador |
"You can't rush good work."
In The Clan of Glowing Night's forge, there are two staples. One is a furnace, quietly crackling with coals and Fire Flight magic, and the other is the spiral dragon curled on top of that furnace, sleeping like a cat in a patch of sunlight. There are other visitors, of course, Nectar frequently visits the forge to tell their mate stories over firelight, and Russet occasionally commissions a unique piece for his latest project. But for the most part things are calm, Caol's tools are neatly organized on their racks, and the forge sees more quiet conversation than it does the clang of hammers.
Most days, Caol spends his time reminiscing on his life in the Blacksand Annex, how he would work from ashen sunrise to smoky sunset, filling out orders under the watchful eye of the Forgemasters, without even a single breath that belonged to himself. And how, even despite the toil and the exhaustion and the sores that would open on his paws, he would still return to the Blacksand Annex in a moment if only it would let him. It was where his heart lived, even if his body currently resides in the Tangled Wood.
Every once and a while Penumbra still asks for armaments, and every time, Caol gives her the same answer; "I see no need to spend my days on weapons and armour. Our clan's at peace, is it not?" Rarely does his clanhead give more than a resigned sign, in response. She promised him an easy life, when she extended a paw to him beneath the smoke filled sky of the annex. Who would she be, if she did not make good on her end of the bargain?
