Some days he is not even sure if he is alive. Estranged from his home lair he wandered in search of a new clan. The Plaguelands were not kind to him. By the time a wandering patrol discovered him along the border between Plague and Arcane, plague was already eating away at his flesh and no cure could be found. In a last-ditch effort, crystal-weavers froze the plague magic. He is no longer infectious but bears the marks of one who survived. He suffers from dissociation. At times his conversation will stop, or he will stutter before staring off at nothing. A longneck scholar follows him around. Its origins are unknown but rumors fly it too came from Plague territory. The scholar is invaluable when Marco has an episode, helping to keep his focus and helping him with grounding exercises. Triggers of his dissociation include the smell of rot and the howling of beasts. They can also cause panic attacks. Peonie, a fae whose egg was discovered near the Plaguelands, often visits him. She shares teas with him and is a veritable encyclopedia on plants. While she wants to help him get to the core of his dissociation, his Tundra memory is not great, so he is left with his trauma but no way to remember it. He claims it is better that way. Despite being born of the Lightning flight, Marco has lost a lot of his faith in pure science. He always was more empathic than his work companions back in the Shifting Expanse, and an unknown argument there caused his expulsion from his home. This is not to say he abandoned his element entirely: many dragons have working electricity in their lairs thanks to his handiwork. He is a doctor as well but has to take his patients on a case by case basis. He cannot handle large amounts of gore and prefers to treat patients with no visible wounds. Despite this he studies the element of Plague, especially magic-based strains. He can and will push himself beyond his realm of comfort in order to study and observe plague. However he will not step foot into the scarred wasteland. Instead he begs samples and specimens off the parties that adventure into the plagued lands. When the majority of the clan moved into Plague territory, Marco stayed behind with several other dragons in Arcane territory.

Mate

Jean crash landed in the clan's territory one day when a storm overtook him over Starwind Bay. Marco helped mend his broken wings and arm and took him in. Originally a grump of a Skydancer, Jean eventually warmed up to Marco. He started out witnessing Marco's dissociative moments but somewhere along the line it led to support and then a bond. Jean is fiercely protective of Marco and discreetly helps him out. They often take trips to Jean's homeland in Wind.

Family





Camilla is Marco's adopted daughter. She was one of three eggs he took in after their mother passed. She is the only one who remained as her brothers left, one to Plague territory and the other serves the Arcanist. She is an apprentice mage who works with Marco on his research and spellwork.





Snowdrop was born in the Scarred Wasteland to unknown parents. During the clan's time in Plague territory, they stumbled across her as a sole traveler, strange in the dangerous lands. When the mages used scrying magic to determine her lineage, both parents were discovered to be serving deities. The magic then searched for next of kin beyond that, and found Marco. Eventually the story pieced together. Marco and Jean lost an egg to predators and assumed it gone, but it survived and begat Snowdrop's father. Snowdrop traveled to Arcane to reunite with her grandfathers before returning to Plague to help protect the clan's endeavors.

As of the move to Earth, Snowdrop resides with Marco and Jean in Earth territory. She continues her guard duty but often travels along the trade routes through Plague to visit the other outposts.

Associates

Bloodrune and Sol were part of the patrol who found Marco in the Scarred Wasteland. As Plague dragons themselves, they knew he needed treatment immediately. They carried him out of the plagued lands and to Arcane territory. They continue to go on excursions into Plague, and while they are out they gather samples for Marco's studies. The fae Lowfy joined their travels and brings back much of what she scavenges to him. The three are close associates of his, even if they are typically in the field.
