King of The Salainen

Apollo, the credited founder of The Salainen Clan and immensely noble diplomat, is somewhat a mystery to his subjects.

The odds and ends servants have leaked through the castle walls suggest he was a banished knight from the Starfall Strand, charged with various crimes that were more serious than your average petty theft. From a young age, Apollo had been obsessed with wealth and power, and that mindset had only festered into his adolescence.

With no place to call his own, the exposed Arcanite attempted to flee into the Viridian Labyrinth, but was halted at the Shadow-Nature border and forced to set up camp in a nameless expanse of trees in the limbo between.

It was within this crack between worlds he met the first few members of his clan - Harriet and Rocky, two homeless progenitors - Anstix, a rogue mage cast aside by her family for her mysterious gifts, and her mute apprentice, Katsuro - and Opalite, a mildly mad scientist with a million hypotheses and no answers to any of them. They were a ragtag team at best, but Apollo was determined to make light of the dire situation; it was becoming uncomfortably clear that being stuck in this forest alone was a death sentence.

As with every growing clan, there were many bumps in the road and things to derail them entirely, but Apollo refused to give up. Soon, many visited from far and wide to witness the birth of a nation - an event that Apollo took all the credit for, much to the distaste of his previously loyal peers.

In the center of it all was the mighty Salainengrove, known throughout the realm as the City in the Trees, where Apollo's shining castle stood proud among the twisted branches and green-purple canopy.

His ambitious vision was a reality, and supreme wealth and power were laid before him for all to see; victory was his, and it tasted sweet.

Despite his shadowy past and questionable methods used in his ascension to King, Apollo was very well-liked. With clan alliances stretching across the realm, he had little trouble with trade and war. However, evil lurked much closer to home in the form of the now-corrupt Garrison, which was doing more damage to the clan than good. The King's relationship with Roxo was passive-aggressive; many spats had been shared since the power-hungry Imperial had risen to power, but part of Apollo didn't want to see the tyrant removed entirely. After all, the dark warrior was merely an imitator of the King himself, but with none of the charm or intellect.

There was only one true leader of The Salainen, and it was him. And that's how it will always be.
