Picture the lands barren of life. Each breeze blowing stinging reminders of decay and death surrounding you. Deep beneath your feet life stirs as dragons make their way around their hidden enclave. Among the bones lays a dragon, scales almost blending into the residue. Next to her lies her mate, the Patriarch of the enclave. Mortem is a twisted humoured dragon, she feels great delight in the torment of other dragons and finds the sound of crunching bones most pleasing. To speak to her alone is risky for she is known for sudden outbreaks of anger and violence. Her collection of savages, both of dragon and non-dragon kind fight below her hoard in a fight for dominance and to satisfy her lust for blood. You are advised to leave quickly and not to risk a similar fate as the bones below her talons.

However, this nasty vicereine does not always show her morbid appetite. She shows her ability to rule ruthlessly but also efficiently with the help of her mate. Sometimes her simple and forceful tactics are often their reason for victory, but Pestilence's quick-witted mind and slower planning ideas get them out of grim issues usually. There are no discrepancies among their family or are taken care of quickly. A simple philosophy keeps their enclave a force to be reckoned with; only the fittest can survive this world.
The enclave is strict in its "welcoming wing policy". Most enclave members are kin and bred selectively for battle characteristics. New members joining from out of their nest are often placed through various straining tasks involving brutal battles and displays of force. Once accepted, dragons are placed in lower ranks until proven themselves worthy of higher.

Mortem is a dragon hard to love. She doesn't believe in friendships but only alliances and enemies. None of her offspring is yet to be worthy enough for her lineage, nor her love. After many of her offspring failed to meet her over-demanding requirements, Mortem turned to the enclave's witch doctor, Kurenov. Mortem and Pestilence handed over their smallest egg they ever had, in hopes that if he failed in his experiments it wouldn't be detrimental to the potential spawn, but if he succeeded then it would be the first time a living offspring was being kept. The results were intriguing, to say the least, and for the first time ever, an heir to the cult was declared.

First it began with an obsession. Mortem's desperate crave for power and her uncanny lust for death consumed her earlier years. After an attempt upon her care-taker's life she was exiled from her home lair to independent life in the Wandering Contagion. A few years past after finding a possible lair, a dragon stumbles upon it. At first Mortem decides to execute the poor traveler, caring not which flight it aligned with. However, after his quick wits convinced her to keep him alive she found herself her first alliance. Together they grew close in the lonely lair, and agreed they would gather themselves an Enclave.

Misfortune soon found the two after they began their collection. Mortem's behaviour of apathy toward her born flight made her a scourge, a shameful waste of nest room toward those who knew her. Unknowing to her, a dragon who recently joined them was planning to get rid of her and keep her growing hoard for himself. At morning when she slept and her close companion was out scavenging the dragon crept towards her unconscious state. He first planned only to scare her away, but his plan quickly fell once he failed to realize the matriarch's fluttering eyelids as she slowly was awakening. His fate was sealed quickly but his orignal family would not let his disappearance go unanswered. The two quickly fled off, leaving what was left of their first enclave behind in fear of more traitors among them.

And so, Mortem and Pestilence grew again once settling down among the crevasse between the Shattered Plain and her orignal home territory. Together, her and her enclave of savages live beneath the feet of dragons among their dreary but cozy womb of disease.
