Euchre

A seasoned pessimist, Euchre tends to think the world is out to get her no matter what happens: if it's overcast, the Gods are sabotaging her day; if it's sunny, They're intent on giving her sunstroke. Obviously things aren't really as bad as all that, but try telling that to Euchre.
Her negative outlook on life hasn't made her very popular. Most dragons try to avoid her where they can, and Euchre has poured herself into her work to distract her from her loneliness. Her friendship with Cerulian and Alabaster has made her life a little happier, and even if most dragons don't value her company, they sing praises of her craftsmanship.

Poor luck has plagued Euchre since her hatching. After discovering that her grandparents deserted from Exalted armies, she blamed them and resolved to confront them, perhaps challenge them to a duel to avenge the honor of the gods. However, after finally tracking them down, she lost her nerve. She had been expecting--what? A pair of young fools, desperate, foppish cowards? Instead she found a pair of battered old veterans with familiar faces.
Working for their adoptive clan as an armorer, she spent some months getting to know her headstrong grandmother and humble grandfather. Eventually, she asked Jai to tell the story of how he met her grandmother--and ended up confessing her true purpose in joining the Hoard. On his part, Jai admitted that he'd recognized her at once, the spitting image of Nisha in her youth.
After that, Euchre felt . . . lighter, happier, as if the shadow of her grandparents' blasphemy had faded somewhat, the ire of the gods somehow assuaged by their reconciliation. Though she had little interest in taking a lover, she gets along well with Cerulian and agreed to help him and Alabaster start a family. The three have become an odd trio often seen flying or resting together. Cerulian often advises her on the style of her armor, while Alabaster contributes more practical tips.
