Biography
◊ V E S P E R ◊ "venus as the evening star" ____ CLAN ROLE: the queen's camarilla: alchemist ____ OTHER NOTES: gem genes and spiral scroll lovingly donated by fujo velvet's girlfriend |
OBSCURE ◊ FOCUSED ◊ LONELY demigirl (she/her) | orientation unknown | neutral evil __________________________________________________ Vesper does not know what or who forged her scales and bones, only that one day she was and the day prior she wasn’t. She wonders the formula for sentience, the components that made her what she is. The kind in which she was molded after — the spirals — do not recognize her as one of their own, can sense something in the way she moves that is different, her eyes aglow with something dangerous. Her cauldron is always bubbling, the occasional hiss echoing through the cluttered room in which she works. Her body weaves through rows upon rows of painstakingly labeled vials and flasks, fingers plucking up what she needs without even looking to confirm she has selected the desired ingredient — she knows she has. Somehow, she is always cold -- a flaw in her design, she thinks. She is rarely seen without her wolf cape wrapped around her, an occasional shiver working its way down her long, long spine. She sleeps through the day and works through the night, sometimes forgetting that her body needs fuel to survive; she'll eat anything, and so often she will eat whatever is most easily accessible and has the highest caloric value. On numerous occasions, she has stepped out of her lab in the basement of the cathedral and grabbed the nearest plant (or if she's lucky, an unsuspecting creature), shoveling it into her mouth and chewing as she promptly returns to her work. She thinks she doesn’t experience emotion the way the others do. Whereas others faces seem to contort and shift, hers typically remains the same, and only with pointed effort can she twist her face into an expression that occurs naturally for the others. She does not laugh, or smile, or cry. Even so, when she stops to sleep there is an ache in her chest that she cannot explain, a hollowness that she writes off as another oversight of her creator, wherever -- whoever -- they are. The feeling is usually forgotten by nightfall when she returns to tend to her cauldron, searching for answers she has yet to find. |
"Knowledge is dangerous. Once you know something, you can’t get rid of it. You have to carry it. Always."
— Samantha Shannon, The Bone Season
