Plague Rainbow Raffle - Daily Top Donor - Day 5 (2/27/14)
The lair, being worn thin from the plague's relentless gathering of troops, was done taking in the weary seeking shelter from the disease. It never worked. It was always too late for those dragons, young and old, who sought protection with Nihonsama and his odd, but strong family.
However, their kindness and acceptance for the doomed travelers served the Plaguebringer well and prepared many dragons for battle in an attempt to get the victims strong enough to fight the disease that would send them to the Her side. After seeing hundreds on hundreds of failures, Nihonsama's heart grew heavy and he started turning dragons away. As both a gift of gratitude to his contribution to Her domination and to assure more were on the way, she sent a servant, Roland, to the lair. He has proven to be a strong fighter, good watchmen, and a cold and uncaring shoulder to cry on. He continued to make sure unsuspecting victims of the disease got the shelter they seek until they were ready until Mother dominated the land.
Remaining afterwards has not been easy on Roland. Nihonsama came to terms with the war, and his clan's role in serving a higher purpose (whether it be to the Stormcatcher or elsewhere), and the lair picked up on its usual quirky, nonchalant day to day activities. Being a very serious and ambitious dragon, Roland has never quite felt comfortable with the goofy bunch and often gets frustrated at the lack of focus and drive to achieve even the mediocre goals they set for themselves. Despite this, he's been true to his word and continues to watch over the clan and has out himself in charge of training exaltees.
To try and fit in better with his new family, he's tried to woo the ladies and find a nice mate to settle down with. However, Roland has all the charm of a river muck and only managed a single, awkward one night stand. That coatl and their three sons quickly decided to serve a higher purpose to the Stormcatcher and he was once again alone. Though initially rejected by Mim, an imperial he had not expected to develop strong feelings for (well not really rejected as much as entirely unnoticed as he couldn't get actual words to come out of his smitten mouth), a recent romantic gesture has brought the two together at last and he has been very quietly and internally happy ever since.
