Biography
Arcus: Lady of the Long Con... or, at least, that's what she used to be named. In her previous clan, Arcus was quite fond of tricks and scams with long-term payoffs... that is, until she met and fell in love with Ehecatl, who was already living with the Windhovers. Ehecatl, being a deeply honest dragon, told Arcus that although he liked her immensely, he couldn't put up with her scheming ways. Arcus had never known any other way to live--but Ehecatl brought out a new side of her, and allowed Arcus to shed some of her selfishness. After a few months of careful thought, she renounced her own flight and came to live with the Windhovers.
Most dragons believe that Arcus contributes little to the Windhovers: though she has some skill with magic, she doesn't much care for the "familiar uplift" project. She sees no profit in it (though she confesses that talking familiars are a fun party trick). Some of the dragons (most prominently Gwen, Starspell, and Penelope) turn up their noses at this "useless" new addition to their lair.
But Arcus has something else to offer: she keeps a constant watch on the Acolytes of Erebus. Her traps have kept the mad dragon Erebus from expanding his caverns too deeply, and her spying keeps Sarnath informed of the Acolytes' movements. After Shulmanu's birth, Sarnath, the clan's leader, began to view the Acolytes as a genuine threat to his clan's peace and prosperity (although their continued scientific work is vital to the Uplift project). Sarnath has nothing but the highest praise for Arcus' management of the rogue dark dragons. These days, she works alongside Kadatheron and Bloodshard to keep the Acolytes in line: her subtle, careful approach is complemented by Kadatheron's bravery and Bloodshard's blunt refusal to yield an inch the the dark dragons.
