Biography
JORAM
Tracker and Guard |
|
B I O G R A P H Y
As a young drake, Joram constantly compared himself to his father and his older brother. He wanted nothing more than to be like them. To him, they seemed to have it all together; they had responsibilities, charges, and the respect of the clan. Try as he might, he never quite got the same results they did. Joram often worked himself into exhaustion attempting to catch up to his older brother, all the while Kalia told him he didn't need to. The leader of the clan, who just so happened to be his aunt, feared that a seed of bitterness would take root in his heart if he were to stay and continue as he was. Hoping to spare him such a fate and give him a chance to grow outside of the shadow of his father and brother, she sent him to a clan off in the Zephyr Steppes which was just getting started up. To his surprise and secret relief, Kalia also joined him and together they made for Amarayne, Joram swearing to his parents that he'd do them proud. For a long time Joram tried to keep up the act of a stone wall of indifference and toughness, thinking this was the best way to serve his clan. This approach led to a rift between his own sons and a lot of misunderstandings between himself and his clanmates. It was a visit from the mother of his son's mate that started his change, and years of work that solidified it. Joram realized that it was fine to show his true colors, even if it wasn't the most macho thing to do, and repaired his relationship with his sons to the point where they freely call him "Dad" again. He seems to have finally reached the place his aunt hoped he would all those years ago, and is forever grateful that his life turned out the way it did. |
P E R S O N A L I T Y
He often won't notice something about a dragon's behavior unless it's pointed out. He doesn't know about his sister's depressive episodes and panic attacks, nor does he know when he's being flirted with or teased. He's getting much better at dealing with such things once he knows they are there, however. His own experiences with inadequacy and pressure have made his pep talks quite encouraging. Joram's anger rises quickly and gets explosive. Wear away at his incredible patience, hit a nerve or threaten those dear to him and he will become very dangerous, very fast. He doesn't let himself get murderous unless it's justified, and has enough self control to stop himself in the middle of a rage should the situation change, but otherwise only death, maiming or escape will free a target from Joram's wrath. |
