Biography
With a keen interest in the magic of Sornieth, Talamir was always glad to assist researchers of Path's End in deciphering ancient scrolls and arcane texts. His brother, when they were younger, would often run off to join the other hatchlings playing among the ruined outskirts of the Hewn City, but Talamir was always content to remain behind and study. He is not, however, a quiet or withdrawn dragon despite the considerable lengths of time he spends alone with his scrolls.

A poor flier, he relies on teleportation spells to traverse larger distances than walking would allow. Unfortunately, it seems that he may have made a small mistake, and now finds himself quite lost...
Uh-oh, looks like this hapless magician teleported a little too far from his lair (138484, Oathfinder), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here.

Travel Journal 1:
Perhaps Talamir should have tested the augmentations to his teleportation spell on something other than himself first, but what good had caution ever done him before? It's not as though he was dead or missing any limbs. No, he was just horribly lost, and that was certainly better than some of the possible alternatives. Besides, the spell was definitely more powerful, so he considered this an astounding success. Now if only he could find someone to tell him where in Sornieth he'd ended up...

Travel Journal 2 (ZincAlloy):
As it turns out, it wasn't very hard for Talimir to figure out where he was. The very ground beneath his feet was bright pink, and surrounding him was ocean, with spires of pink crystal jutting out at various intervals, similar to the one he was standing on. Quickly, he deduced that he must be somewhere in the Starfall Isles. Talimir decided this must be a stroke of luck, as if anybody could help him refine his teleportation spell, it would be some Arcane mages.

With nowhere else to go, Talimir headed towards the top of the spire, where a large fortress sat overlooking the bay. Immediately upon arriving at the doors, he was set upon by a crimson coatl, who offered to sell Talamir any kind of magical artifact he could think of, from runestones that looked to have been pilfered from the Hewn City to an enchanted Stormcatcher doll that yelled 'GET BACK TO WORK!' With his money pouch somewhat lighter, Talamir began to scour the inside of the fortress for a dragon who was actually interested in helping him, not just his money.

Rounding a corner, Talamir bumped into a fae that he could of sworn hadn't been there a moment ago. Upon questioning, the fae, Minya, claimed to be a master of teleportation, and agreed to assist Talamir. "The problem with long-distance teleportation," Minya said, "is that not only do you have to focus on where you want to go, you have to be able to keep track of where you are during the process. Fortunately, I can make you a solution to that problem." And with that, the fae pulled a couple of feathers out of Talamir's wing, and promptly disappeared into the shadows.

Talamir spent the next week or two practising magic with the clan's mages, until Minya suddenly appeared once again, this time holding a dark bracelet embedded with a blue gem. "This," Minya said, "is your focus. The gem contains one of your feathers, and will do the work of keeping track of yourself for you. All you have to do is focus on where you want to go." Eager to test it out, Talamir said his goodbyes to the Arcane clan, and cast his teleportation spell, disappearing in a flash of light.

Foolishly though, Talamir hadn't paid attention to Minya's eyes, for they were not the bright pink of an Arcane dragon, but the deep purple that of a Shadow dragon. And true to his birthright, Minya hadn't been able to resist playing a trick on the skydancer. The fae didn't know a thing about teleportation magic, and the bracelet was just a cheap bit of iron that did nothing but look pretty. With his spell still uncontrolled, Talamir had once again been sent out into the unknown, with no control over where he might end up.

Travel Journal 3 (Unidra):
This became apparent enough when he appeared in the middle of the zephyr cliffs - far from the light clan he intended to return to. He heard a few screams of surprise and realized he'd landed right in the middle of a wind clan. One of them looked like a powerful mage, but something about her looked sinister. In fact, all of the dragons looked a bit sinister. He debated for a split second whether to stay and hope they were kinder than they looked or teleport and hope he landed somewhere relatively safer. He teleported just before a spiral lunged at him.

Travel Journal 4 (Aluna):
This time, Talamir didn't travel very far. He ended up right in the middle of the Twisting Crescendo, whirling around and around in a powerful storm. He flapped his useless wings helplessly. He tried to cast the teleportation spell, but couldn't concentrate enough to remember the words. This was it. He was going to die. Suddenly, a female skydancer, followed by a male guardian, flew out of the clouds right at him. 'Help!' he cried. They instantly dived for him and carried him to safety on a protruding ledge nearby. 'Thanks,' he gasped. 'No problem,' the guardian replied. 'Who are you?' Talamir asked. 'My name's Sirel, and this is my mate Calla,' Sirel answered. 'We're leaving our home lair because there is too many bad memories for us there. But it might be a good place for you to rest for a while.' So they took Talamir back to their the home lair, a cozy village called Wind's Rest, before leaving. Talamir stayed there, and rested for a good long while, making friends with all the dragons, and passing his time playing with Frenn and Kherron, Sirel and Calla's children. Sadly, Wind's Rest possessed no mage, so he could receive no help with his teleporting skills, but he certainly enjoyed himself. At long last he said good-bye, said the spell, and was teleported off into the unknown.

Travel Journal 5 (missfox):
Perhaps, he thought, the many winds of the land caused magical interference? Regardless, Talamir found himself once again in another Wind clan - that is to say smack dab in the middle of a Wind clan's vegetable garden. Luckily an imperial named Tora was nearby and helped to gently brush off the dirt and leaves that had stuck to his wings. "Oh my, you've been through quite a bit," said Tora once Talamir had explained how he'd come to land in her rhubarb. "But the head of our clan is a very knowledgeable sorceress. She must know something. And if Aisling can't help, then perhaps one of the others can."

Aisling met Talamir with a cool stare and blank expression that offered no invitation to her thoughts. Nevertheless, Aisling welcomed him into her home and offered the resources of her clan's library. There were other users of magic, Aisling's daughter and grandchildren among them. They helped him pour over the texts, endlessly debating over which methods might prove successful. Finally Aisling said, "You made these augmentations yourself, yes? Then you overreached. Adjust them for a shorter distance."

So Talamir set to work, hoping that he might finally make some progress on his journey. With the Wind clan's well wishes, Talamir cast the spell.

Travel Journal 6 (Zephrana):
Oh dear, it seems as though Aisling's advice of adjusting for shorter distances worked a bit too well. Talamir once again found himself in the Windswept Plateau, and while he found its bright shades of green to be quite beautiful, he longed for the dusty cream stones of the Sunbeam Ruins. Looking about, he spotted a small fae wearing a large, floppy brimmed hat busily picking flowers. Hopping over, Talamir introduced himself to the tiny dragon and explained his predicament. The fae - named Naedia - expressed both her sympathies and surprise. 'Why,' she cried, 'you can't be going about basing all of your magic on what you find in dusty old scrolls! You need to strengthen your abilities through real world practice! As head mage of my clan, it's my duty to train youth like you in the ways of magic.' Hoping atop Talamir's shoulder, Nadia directed him towards her lair and introduced him to the other members of her clan, taking him under her wing as her student. Talamir joined Naedia and the other warriors of her clan in battling against monsters and members of the beastclans, learning the ways of a battle mage. For many months, Talamir improved and perfected his abilities, until both he and Naedia were confident that he would finally be able to complete his journey. 'Perhaps,' Talamir thought as he prepared the teleportation spell, 'it would be worthwhile to focus more on learning magic directly from other dragons, than from just my scrolls. Only imagine the potential spells and charms I could learn! After I finally make it home, maybe I could return to travelling Sornieth and could record the magics of the clans I encounter?' After saying his final farewells to Naedia and the other members of the clan who had taken him in and taught him so much, Talamir closed his eyes, thought of home, and cast the spell.
