I’ve watched and participated and I don’t understand what he has that I don’t possess. He’s just some nobody from the Icefields who has no business delving into this kind of magic, some kid who hasn’t seen as many years as I have but thinks that he can just do whatever it is he goddamn pleases. “I’ll figure it out. Have to. Need to. Lich will destroy himself eventually, toying with what he doesn’t understand, but I will understand it in his wake and do more than he could ever hope to achieve. Until then, I study. I work. “He’ll slip his secrets one day.” |

"Flauros is… divisive. More divisive than I’d like. I mean, I like her--I’m around her almost every moment of every day--but she may have done some bad things because of some bad people once upon a time. ‘Cause, uh, heh, she may look like a dragon, but she’s definitely not a dragon, and she’s only now learning how to be a dragon and it’s a whole big mess. She’s a thing, not a person, but she’s becoming a person, but when she was a thing it was really easy to just use her as a… weapon. A lot of folks died. B-b-but it wasn’t her fault.
“I guess things have gotten better since me and her tromped Elder, but it’s still… I don’t know. It’s still hard. Because even though they’ll admit she’s a hero, she’s still very odd, and off, and bizarre, and weird, and she doesn’t always say or do things that are normal because she doesn’t yet know what ‘normal’ is. She’s still learning right and wrong and left and right, and I’m just… I-I-I’m just trying to maintain the peace. She’s good, I promise. HISTORY
Flauros is a curiosity created by the necromancer, Lich, a peculiar Coatl obsessed with obtaining occult knowledge. Along with his assistant, Falx, he attempted to use the life-essence of a still-living dragon to force the latent Shade energy in the land to coalesce into something that could, by some definitions, be considered "alive." However, his test subject escaped before the ritual could be completed and Flauros--the half-formed, highly unstable Not-Dragon--was born.
Flauros is most well known within The Abandoned for being the namesake of a tragedy known as The Flauros Incident, wherein rogue sorcerers attempting a coup managed to exploit Flauros' instability and use her as a tool of war. Swathes of Irthskaar were destroyed, entire clans were decimated, and the Tomb Flats found many new dead. Though the hold on Flauros was broken by Shriek, who now keeps Flauros like a pet, it is difficult for most to feel comfortable around her. This isn't helped by the fact that Flauros and Shriek seem to be changing gradually, in ways most unnatural and foul. That said, Shriek intends to use Flauros as a force for good and Flauros has begun to gain some semblance of sentience. Learning to be a dragon is difficult for something so disconnected from our reality, however, so she can be... unnerving, to say the very least. |

INFEROS
Originally a timepiece made by ERRoR while teaching an apprentice basic clockwork, Inferos gained some manner of life after being placed too close to Flauros' favorite haunt. Nobody is sure what makes it tick (pun intended), but Flauros has taken a shine to it as much as she can take a shine to anything. Shriek allows it, mostly since it's a good alternative to something alive and breathing.
