Darknell is the progenitor of the Abyssal Zone, a small offshoot of the Water flight.

Darknell was hatched to the Nature flight as a Mirror and grew into an Aberration as an adult. After he matured, the Nature elders convened and concurred that he must be exalted from the flight for straying from the natural world.

He wandered aimlessly and without a place to call his own for a long while before happening upon a coastline. Settling down in one of the many alcoves proved to be a decision chosen by the Gods; as night fell on the wide and endless ocean, the creatures of the deep crawled ashore and welcomed him with open arms into the abyss.

Though they are small and few now, the Abyssal Zone continues to welcome stragglers and strangers into its dark depths.
