Nordic mythology, also known as Norse mythology, is a rich and complex system of beliefs and stories from the ancient Norse culture. At the heart of this mythology are a pantheon of gods, giants, and other supernatural beings. Hel Hel is the goddess of the underworld, a realm for those who did not die in battle. She is often depicted as half living and half dead. Heimdall Heimdall is the guardian of the Bifrost, the rainbow bridge that connects the realm of the gods with the world of humans. He possesses incredible senses and is known as the Watchman of the Gods. Loki Loki is a complex figure, often regarded as a trickster god. His mischief and deceit lead to many significant events in Norse mythology, including the death of Balder. Freyja | Freyr Freyja and her twin brother Freyr are fertility deities associated with love and prosperity. Freyja is often depicted as a powerful and independent goddess. Thor Thor is the god of thunder and the protector of both gods and humans. He wields the mighty hammer Mjölnir and is a symbol of strength and bravery. Njörd Njörd is a god associated with the sea, seafaring, and wealth. He is often depicted as a peaceful and prosperous deity. Tyr Tyr is the god of courage and law. He is known for his bravery and his role in binding the monstrous wolf Fenrir. Odin Odin is the chief of the Aesir, the principal group of gods in Norse mythology. He is associated with wisdom, knowledge, poetry, and war. His two ravens, Hugin (thought) and Munin (memory), bring him information from all over the world. Yggdrasil Yggdrasil is the World Tree, an immense ash tree that connects the nine worlds of Norse mythology. It symbolizes the cosmos and the interconnectedness of all things. Iduna Iduna is the goddess who guards the golden apples that keep the gods youthful. She represents youth and vitality. Frija Frija is the queen of the Aesir and the wife of Odin. She is associated with love, motherhood, and marriage. Frija is known for her wisdom and protective nature, and she is one of the most powerful goddesses in Norse mythology. She is often depicted as a caring and nurturing figure. Jörmungandr Jörmungandr is the Midgard Serpent, a colossal sea serpent that encircles the world. It is a nemesis of Thor and is destined to play a role in Ragnarök. Fenrir Fenrir is a monstrous wolf, one of the children of Loki. He is prophesied to play a significant part in the events leading to Ragnarök. Surtr Surtr is a powerful fire giant who wields a flaming sword. He is destined to set the world ablaze during Ragnarök. Balder Balder is the god of light and purity, known for his beauty. His tragic death is a pivotal event in Norse mythology, leading to the onset of Ragnarök.
