an abandoned port-town nestled in a ravine where it never stops raining. the buildings and pathways are overgrown with plants, and the grave stones crumble under the weight of those lost and forgotten.

the trees grow large and sickly, their branches thin as they reach towards the faint light of an malevolent sky, frail leaves glowing a ghostly blue-grey against the ebony bark.

the lantern posts are rusted and the glass that once housed a warm and gentle flame is now shattered, the pieces that remain now cold and sharp.

there are no seasons, only the ever-present rumbling of thunder and the cutting chill of the rain. the sun never rises, nor does it set; the only change is the waxing and waning of the weeping moon and the soft glow of her dying constellations.

freezing ocean wind rushes through the streets and past a ruined cathedral, the long neglected instruments that used to bring joy to forgotten gods now play a tune that mourns the decaying city and the life it once fostered.

and yet, it’s comforting here.

here, where the wind whispers a sorrowful tale to anyone who’ll listen.

here, where fire burns cold and and the metal rusts blue.

here, in this never-ending present and buried past.

here, where the trees weep for whats been lost.

here, where only the rain remembers.
