If your dragon has been recruited by our clan, there is a high chance it will be exalted if bought at fodder price (and I will click like on both of the parents because I am sacrificing their children to be put in the mysterious shadow soup). Sometimes I'll flip dragons if they're a rare XXX so they don't get exalted :(
