The Stricken Clan
You will find it in the wastes, walk until your bones feel like they may crumble, walk until the sun bleaches your scales, walk with death – and you will find it. Skaðihöll the home of The Stricken.
Led by the enigmatic Aldera it was originally founded as a death cult. Worship of the plague goddess was the centre of clan life. Each day was chaos as every member was constantly violently tested and often broken in the process. However, in the last few centuries the clan has mellowed somewhat and now residents find many alternative ways to serve the goddess. However, under this new veneer of civility there is a bubbling tension between those who would return to a ‘pure’ way of living and those who have a ‘modern’ outlook.
Skaðihöll
Built almost entirely underground- the only clue to its existence from the air is the black maw that forms the entrance. Intricate carvings in obsidian once decorated the entrance but the harsh wasteland wind and air has eroded what the flora and fauna didn’t destroy by force. However, once you have descended those black steps into the gullet of Skaðihöll things become more civilized. You will find yourself in the vast cathedral like hall in which most of the clan spend their time. Here you can enjoy the masterwork of stone carving as it was intended. That is if you can stomach the gruesome scenes depicted in the black rock. There are tunnels and chambers leading away from this, but these are largely utilitarian and are mostly roughly carved from the bare subterranean rock or opportunistic uses of underground caves. Most of this is storage but there are private sleeping quarters decorated in the idiosyncratic styles of the residents. One room is just a small swamp somehow ripped from a forest and placed underground. If you are very unlucky you may even chance upon the Laboratory, a purpose built complex of rooms to house the ‘experiments’ of Dr Neutron.
