This is the Engake Clan, an Ancient Lair of the Reedcliff Ascent. Though we may seem to be disorganized to others, we have settled into a somewhat dissonant yet harmonious rhythm in life, perched high on the cliffs overlooking the Sea of a Thousand Currents. I guess you could say we like a little bit of adventure and suspense.

In order to provide our support to the Wind Flight, Dragons will now on be required to exalt at least one hatchling from their First Clutch. It may seem harsh to those who do not know our ways, but it can be assured that it is seen as an honor to be exalted. After this First Clutch, dragons are free to choose whether or not to exalt additional offspring in the future. Hatchlings that were concieved with the intention to be exalted are given the customary names of "Adamak" for males, and "Kutsamak" for females. These names come from a human language known as "Turkish." "Adamak" means to "dedicate, offer, vow, commit, consecrate, or devote." "Kutsamak" means to "bless, consecrate, sanctify, hallow, canonize, or revere."

*Edit: After Esinti's problem, the Grakenin has agreed to make exceptions for dragons whose First Clutch consists of a single egg. These dragons are expected to exalt a hatchling from their next clutch.

Our clan is currently ruled by Arslan and Malyah. They rely on the guidance of the Grakenin, or Council of Elders, when faced with difficult and sensitive decisions. The monarch (or in this case, monarchs) chooses the nine Grava of the Grakenin, and as of now, those Grava are as listed:
Astelle, Daryun, Naryal, Saggitarius, Arash, Edward, Bora, Farangis, and Ingvar.

Astelle chose her first-born, Malyah, as her successor, though the young irtema always insisted that there was another who was better suited for the position. Malyah eventually convinced her mother to pass the crown on to Arslan instead.

Arslan and Malyah have just hatched their second Keepclutch. The clan welcomes the young irtako, Irtakohid Daivad.




Our founder and Sirenadir Vezri, Astelle, firmly believes that no dragon should be turned away from joining the Engake Clan without due reason. But there are others who argue differently. Bora and his sister, Esinti, scolded the former monarch's willingness to allow strangers into the lair. Though the twin Hibichaki are aware that they too, are immigrants to the clan, they find theirselves somewhat wary of strangers.

"What kind of diseases could they be carrying?" asks Esinti on a regular basis.

Her brother has a darker mindset, asking,
"What if they turn on us? What if they harm our hatchlings?"

Astelle assured the twin healers that any dragon she allowed to join was one that she trusts and reminded them that our clan is strong and united. She promised them that if the slight chance ever occurred that a dragon did try to harm anyone, she would be the first to defend her clanmates.
