There is a city by the river.

They call it This Side, because that's what side of the river it's on. The weather is always gloomy and rainy and wet. The residents do nothing but complain about their home yet no one ever speaks of leaving.

Things that wear the skins of men walk the streets. They come from somewhere Across the river. They will smile and shake your hand, but they do not trust you and you do not trust them.

You are not from this city. You have not lived here long. You still have not seen all its streets. You can run for hours and hours and you will always be a few minutes from the riverbank. You were born here. You have never left.

There is a city by the River.
