TOPIC | Is the Arcanist Alive? Canon Question

In the description of the Encyclopedia article on the Third Age, it heavily implies that the Arcanist dies after meeting the Shade and blowing up the Pillar. However, in the world map, it says that the Arcanist works in the Observatory still. If the Arcanist died against the Shade, how did he create a flight of dragons in his image, as the Encyclopedia says he did?

I wonder about this as well. Not only that, but it mentions that the Earthshaker pretty much sat in one place until he solidified into a mountain of sorts. This was apparently before the creation of the flights. Is he alive either?

Which also brings up the question, can the deities actually die?

What a ridiculous question!

eheh hello arcanist
anyway the implication for me was that the dragon gods had physical forms which are no longer in use thanks to the shade, earthshaker turning into mountains, etc etc. but they still are around in their spiritual/godly forms and could probably return to the physical realm if they really wanted
not sure if this is accurate but this is how i thought of the whole situation

That's only the most obvious of the remaining deities - some of the others appear to be more-or-less still active in the world, too.

i do think they still are active (with varying degrees of activity though) but just not running around like they used to in physical forms

i'm basing this primarily off of the epilogue of course so i might be missing something ;w;

They are all very much alive and have physical forms. None of them died as a result of the shattering of the Pillar. Their essence was thrown from the Pillar causing them to return to their physical forms.
