Lovely new familiars and other announcements! I haven't been doing much battling lately so I won't be seeing any of the new coli stuff anytime soon, but still very cool. :)

A quick question about the achievements: will achievements for the genes that have been released since site opening be added around the same time as the re-enabling? That'd be seraph, I think, plus all of the ones that were released after achievements were disabled. Obviously new ones are not a priority compared to just getting them working again, but now I've got some crackle and underbelly and seraph dragons I'm eager to try for those achievements when they're ready :)

@Phoenixsong:

We actually have already prepared breeding achievements for all the genes that have gone live while the system has been down, so those will be ready to earn when they're re-enabled. :)

I'm very excited for achievements to be re-enabled! Will the ones we've achieved while they're disabled be activated?

@Omori

Some yes, and some no. We're doing our best with what tracking we did maintain when the system was disabled and will be awarding achievements retroactively wherever at all possible. :)

To give you a general idea: achievements like "you need these items to get it" will only be earned if you have the items in your possession at the time the system is re-enabled. The same sort of thing goes for breeding event achievements. Because dragons change ownership so often on the site, we would not be able to retroactively award for a breeding that happened in the past.

However, achievements like gathering, familiar collection count, treasure accumulation, and lair sizes will be awarded without issue. :)

We will have a full, comprehensive breakdown of what achievements can and can't be awarded retroactively when that update goes live.

Good question, thanks!

Those that venture deep into the center of ancient forests may there encounter a Qiriq. These proud creatures befriend dragons with the strongest of hearts. ...or those with the deepest pockets; they are now stocking rarely in the treasure marketplace!

Fungalhoof Qiriq Umberhorn Qiriq

Mire Additions
Shellions and Croakers have joined in the battle for The Mire, and are appearing as enemies in the Coliseum. Dragons that choose to take on this new challenge will be well rewarded for their efforts.

Coliseum Skin Contest
December is an off-month for flight holidays; January will see their return as Ice prepares for the Crystalline Gala! So this month we're going to be trying something a little bit different for our monthly skin contest; rather than a holiday contest, the theme is the coliseum, and the monsters that live in each of its venues. Winning entries to this contest will become very rare, long-term drops available to coliseum battlers. Click here to enter your skin submission!

Marketplace Skins
Two new skins are stocking in the gem marketplace. Be sure to check them out if you would like to pick out a fancy new coat of paint for your guardian or pearlcatcher females!

Hey @Fauxgami -

Thanks for asking first! We'd actually like to ask that you steer clear of a project like this for now, as the PSD files are primarily offered for skinmakers. :)

We do have some ideas already on the dev team table that centralize around genes and previews that we're mulling over and discussing, but nothing to announce yet. Appreciate your honesty!
No Response to Bug Report?

Hey everyone! I wanted to chime in real quick.

This forum moves very quickly, and I give major props to @twitchy for the amount she's able to handle and respond to in a given time period. She is in constant contact with myself and the rest of the administration team, and we are keeping track of everything that comes across the table. We dissect this forum very methodically to weigh volume and frequency.

Unfortunately, we aren't able to provide as much vocal feedback as we'd like to; it's just not humanly possible. I would love for us to be able to do that at some point, and I will try to be much better about it, but I fear that sometimes I'm going to fall short, since time is very valuable. Almost all of that time goes towards the actual analysis, testing, fixing, and implementation so we can get things amended as quickly as we can. This is why the Bug Report Forums are for reports and monitoring, and not necessarily a dialogue and discussion board.

I definitely understand where you guys are coming from, and that you want to know you're being heard, and that your reports are being taken seriously. All I can say is that they are, and we have a profound appreciation for those of you who are taking the time to let us know about the issues. Please do not stop reporting, just understand that because of the volume, it may not be possible for us to respond directly to everything. As always, if you experience a customer service issue that is the result of a bug, you have an outlet for that as well. :)

Thanks for the head's up, @Calidragon!

This is actually a very rare bug you found, and one we're still working on narrowing down. To make a long story short, you don't need to worry about those two Wind flighters being able to see your thread. :) They both landed on a blank page that allowed them to reply, so they both kinda just tossed something into thin air to see what would happen. Somehow, those replies ended up on your thread, but they could not view it.

We're still researchin' this one. Thanks!
Custom Tertiary Selection - Resolved

There is no need for a survey. Being able to select your tert was never an option, not even for a minute. It's not a part of the mechanic, interface, or even our test server. Not possible. No one got to select them. :)

We are very, very sorry this keeps happening on holidays, everyone. We're investigating as we speak.

Rockbreaker's Ceremony
This month, all of dragonkind come together to celebrate the Rockbreaker's Ceremony. This festival commemorates the hardy Earth flight, and their most prized possessions, Deepearth Geodes, can be found by using any gathering type in Earth areas this week. Neutral and Earth element monsters also have a chance to yield these items as drops in the Coliseum.

Deepearth Geode

The Festive Favors holiday stall is now open for the duration of the holiday and you may trade in Deepearth Geodes for exclusive items. It will remain open until the holiday comes to a close on Sunday, December 1 at 23:59 server time.

Updates & Changes
  • EDIT 11/25 - 5:50 Server) Due to recent issues, we will be extending the end date of the Rockbreaker's Ceremony to Sunday December 1st @ 23:59 Server Time
  • We wanted to remind everyone of this bug reporting guide when making or interacting with threads on that forum board, as it is not utilized in the same manner as other forums. Multiple copies of the same issue and bumping threads here is discouraged, as it skews volume and creates false spread. Please help us help the site by keeping this forum as clean and consolidated as possible by always checking the Known Issues list and first few pages of the forum before posting new reports, as well as not bumping or "ghost-bumping" them (bumping and deleting your post). If you are experiencing an issue that needs customer service attention, please utilize the Contact Us form using the e-mail address tied to your Flight Rising account. Thanks!

@Iconoclast The scrolls are functioning correctly. Getting 3 greens in a row is statistically unlikely, but it is within the realm of possibility. I have freshly checked the scatterscrolls again via a 20 scroll personal test and I got new colors on primary 17 out of 20 times (the three repeats were not green!)

Thanks to everyone for their patience. They're still rolling out!
Let's Talk Capes
Nov 19, 2013, 09:13:33
I double checked the drop rates and midnight capes are dropping just fine.

I think that the black capes are pretty popular (people love black apparel!) and so they're being held onto or bought/sold immediately.
Size Difference in Dragons

They are larger than tundras. There's a glitch that needs to be corrected where breeding them resets their size.

Not an improvement with the clutch system. Hardly even a change. The chances were low to begin with, why go on about how it was changed when it really wasn't? And now it's not even possible to have a 5-egg clutch with two of the same breeds? Disappointing.

@kerru

The update listed in the announcement post was to alert everyone that a problem was fixed, not that there had been significant changes made to the clutch outcomes. A bug had been lowering chances of 5-egg nests in the system we had laid out a few months ago, and the post was to inform people of that fix. :)

@LynnTV Only the 5 egg nests were off. The rest were working as intended, and were following the above table. A bunch of 1-2 egg nests is a bad streak of luck :-(

We would like to recognize two brand new Flight Rising moderators! Please welcome @Ara and @Mayana, who will be gracing the forums under the following guises:

Congratulations, and thank you so much for lending a helping hand to the site!

Feathered Capes:

Feather-trimmed capes are dropping very rarely*** in the coliseum. The names of each cape are clues as to which venue you may find them in. Training Fields, Sandswept Delta, and Bamboo Falls do not drop capes.

Duneglider Cape Firebreather Cape Gladewalker Cape Twilight Cape
Midnight Cape Winter Cape Waverider Cape Woodsdrake Cape

Treasure burning a hole in your pocket? Do you require a garment that will dazzle and impress? A royal cape will be stocking from time to time in the marketplace. This cloak is truly fit for a monarch, or a well-off pretender.

Rockbreaker's Ceremony Skin Contest:

A reminder that the deadline for Rockbreaker's Ceremony skin contest submissions is less than a week away. Be sure to get your entries in before the end of the 22nd!

Other Updates:
  • We have added three new forum boards:

    • Guides: Have you written a really sweet Coliseum guide that helps other players understand the finer points of combat? Or have you got a good handle on where to find all the coolest familiars? Post your thread here!
    • Introductions: True to its name, this forum is where you can go to introduce yourself and share a bit about your background. If you love meeting new people, this is the place for you!
    • Raffles: You asked for it, and we're happy to oblige. A Raffles forum has been created solely for raffle and giveaway threads. We will be, over the course of the next week or so, mass-moving raffle/giveaway threads over here, so keep an eye out! Please bear with us as we make these moves; there are a lot of threads to shuffle, and we would like to ask that you allow the moderators time to get things organized as they are helping as volunteers (not staff) to make the forum experience awesome.

  • We wanted to thank @Kiohl for all of her exceptional help, as she has stepped down from moderating for the time being. She has a lot of exciting real life opportunities and projects going on, and we here at the team really want to wish her the best of luck as she pursues them!

  • We have made the decision to move the Crystalline Gala holiday to the end of the month of January. After much consideration, and several suggestions from you guys, we agree that having December be the break month is a better idea for school vacations and holiday planning for those that celebrate. Thanks for your feedback on that!

  • An issue that was causing an unintentionally low 5-egg clutch yield percentage has been fixed. These nests should be more common than they were. For reference, these are the percentage chances in effect:

When you interbreed 2 dragons of different species, this table is used: Because the dice were rolled for species outcome, a chance at a 5th egg is possible!
    • 5 eggs (5%)
    • 4 eggs (10%)
    • 3 eggs (45%)
    • 2 eggs (30%)
    • 1 egg (10%)

If you breed two dragons of the same species, this table is used:
    • 4 eggs (12%)
    • 3 eggs (40%)
    • 2 eggs (38%)
    • 1 egg (10%)

  • We are still continuing to roll out Scatterscroll reimbursements, so if you have sent an e-mail, please do not worry. We will announce when we have finished the reimbursements in the event that some messages became lost in the shuffle. We apologize very much for the delay in these getting to you, and thank you for your continued patience while we investigate and attend each ticket thoroughly.

***Most enemies in the appropriate venue have a chance to drop the capes, but it is at a very low rate. They're not farmable so much as a treat that will drop from time to time for battlers from this point forward.

A new item?
Nov 16, 2013, 21:41:48
I would like to emphasize again that these are really not farmable. (I wasn't just saying that to be cute! They're a very very low drop rate across many monsters, very similar to eggs and battle scars)

I think it's great that you're trying to get them, but if you notice that they're really not cropping up, it's for the above reason. :-) However, like eggs and battlescars, you'll see them in general circulation given enough time.
Should have Venerable Lair... but don't

I went through and fixed everyone's lair titles. You should now be good (sans achievements). Thanks everyone.
A new item?
Nov 16, 2013, 09:04:13
They are not element unique. Just venue unique. The glade walker cape is not a nature cape per-say. It's just green and found in a forest venue.
A new item?
Nov 16, 2013, 08:48:58
It gets worse. There are 8 coliseum capes, each unique to a venue...

The rumors about the admins being evil may have some validity.
A new item?
Nov 16, 2013, 08:28:17

Actually to any coliseum arena that's not training fields, hidden waterfall, or sandswept delta >.> They're not really farmable though. More like a treat now and again. Like egg drops or battle scars.

Sorry about the long wait time. I know that when we send out the scrolls we sort by date received, so it's possible that if you sent multiple tickets they're not being responded to because they're the newest ones.

When last I checked we were finished with all the tickets sent in the first day (which was well over half of them!) and are onto the ones sent on the 30th onwards. Aratim has been diligently doing tickets as well as managing the contact form e-mails.

Lair Adjustments & New Familiars
Nov 12, 2013, 02:32:55
jastoz wrote on 2013-11-12 02:11:41:
While adjustments being made only 60 and up seem arbitrary, they're not entirely. Those at 99 deserve to go up to 125, the only question is how far to take that back. Sure, at 55 in the old system you could've paid up to 65 in the new system, but that amount still isn't lost. The different has simply been applied forward.

This was our main philosophy in going forward with these changes. We opted to not provide treasure reimbursement for this update, as doing so would put millions, if not billions of treasure into the economy (risking inflation) for users with lairs below 60+, which may not have been used by everyone on lair expansions. This creates a somewhat unfair deal for those with larger lairs, as their adjustments only came in the form of more slots, and not actual currency.

Users with lower level lairs may not be receiving tangible 'refunds' via this change, but they are receiving a much sweeter deal on lair expansions going forward, keeping the benefits of the lair adjustments solely within the lair expansion system, and not creating a huge (potentially risky) stimulus. I do not disagree that this may feel like a slight, but would like everyone to know that it most definitely was not meant as one, and was the most balanced way that we could devise to move forward with the change.

We will, of course, keep our eyes peeled on this thread for your feedback, and appreciate every bit of it. :)
