This update is going to be a bit more frank than previous ones. It appears that, yet again, Flight Rising is being tested by becoming the target of more malicious activity and exploitation. Over the past week we have been receiving heavy amounts of traffic from singular individuals, likely running bots to automate normal gameplay in excess of what is feasible by normal browsing. This is destroying the experience for many of you, resulting in the item loss and load time issues that have been most prevalent in the last few days.

We have made the decision to, in addition to monitoring this heavily, leave the site open with the following safeguard in place:

We will be performing backend restarts on services hourly, which will cause momentary interruptions. We are opting for this option to better gain clarity on where and how these methods are being used to bog the site down, while at the same time allowing you to play as much as possible and protect against the losses that have been occurring. There is a chance that, given the cirumstances, we may need to bring the site down again, but we are employing every measure we can to prevent that. If that ends up being the case, please accept our apologies.

We're disappointed that there are individuals still out there that would seek to continue to derail our attempts to improve the site and not notify us directly, but are still heavily committed to not only getting through this, but coming out stronger for it.

Personally that page always looked to me like the immortal dragon, standing upon their pedestal, watching over the mortals below.

Yes, it was and then it was decided that the mechanic should be something positive.

"Exiling" was a delete feature. It did not reward treasure and there was no Dominance at that time. The change to "Exalting" brought with it rewards and Dominance.

Officially, Exalting a dragon is an honor, a privilege granted to that dragon which in turn benefits both the Clan and the Flight.

What's great about this push isn't just the sheer number of dragons being Exalted since Sunday but the dialogue that has started. We are reading all of the constructive feedback received so far during this push.

@micahjaguar, we are paying attention to this battle and player feedback.

@LadyRowyn, Flight Rising canon is that Exalting is a honor, that's why we named it "Exalt." Dragons are granted leave to serve their respective deities. They are definitely not being killed, not officially.

@Crucey, at what time today did this happen?

@Valithria, yes we will be adding more artwork for the puzzles, the Familiars and new breeds. :)

They venomscale bracers have a 1/45 chance of showing up each time swipp offers a new trade. I have verified that they are in the system as a possible trade.

The random nature of the selection means there could be 10 venomscale trade offers in a row, or none for a month. (both are statistically unlikely, so I'd imagine that it's far more likely that they'll pop up before the month is out!)

Developers are currently monitoring the site

We wanted to let you know that there may be additional, very short outages like the one we just experienced as we watch and continue investigating.

What we need from our community: Please continue interacting with the site as you normally would and report anything similar to what happened earlier this morning in Bugs.

@Asmo, Flights taking turns wasn't the intended goal of Dominance. Dominance does two things: gives the Dominant Flight some nice benefits and pull dragons out of the system.

If all the Flights push every week, we will see the dragon population drop.

Giving a Flight Dominance for their festival week, I understand and think it is great but when we only have two Flights pushing a week, every week, and then drop down to just one Flight every four weeks, not nearly enough dragons leave the game.

@Nabiki, the developers had to shake the site a bit, we're very sorry for the sudden outage.

@Vhyxalas, I am sorry, we don't have any plans to adjust gem marketplace prices.

Something I did when I was just a player was trade dragons. I didn't want to spend money on gems to get everything I wanted so I made some friends and we all worked together to get dragons, trade Hatchlings to achieve our goals. There are many gem-breed dragons out there with gem-genes and not all of them are very expensive. It is possible to breed your way to your ideal dragon without having to spend any money on gems.

To earn treasure, I've made quite a bit of money just by selling Familiars, selling items from Gathering/Swipp, bonding with Familiars and the reward chests, Crim, Exalting dragons I've bred. It's not instant money but it does build up over time and faster than you might think. I was very surprised to see just how much treasure I earned over a few days doing everything I listed.

Regarding generating treasure: We are looking at some adjustments in the Fairgrounds to address the player feedback on the rewards in this area.


Editing to add: Chests and Exalting reward not just treasure but gems too. Not all the time with Exalting but it does happen. Keep your well-fed bonus to earn a free gem every day, too.

@mlsclassics, I am aware of the on-going discussion about that. I don't have any information to give right now but I am paying attention to player feedback.

This is how Dominance is supposed to be. Every week, multiple Flights fighting it out for the honor of being the Dominant Flight for the next week, breeding Exalt fodder, raiding the Auction House for more fodder.

That said, if we continue to have intense multi-Flight Dominance battles, I am more than happy to give the community running updates on the overall Exalted totals.
