probably gotta say, in general, genes which barely exist/are comically localized in a single small area - featherbeard and dewlap come to mind. they're just so hard to balance...

..smoke It just... doesn't work 90% of the times on dragons I see especially since it can clash so hard with the pattering on the secondary and primary in ways I just don't like.. and then there's smirch that has a very situational use especially if you have a breeding project and are needing a gene with a lower rarity then rare to show up more but it CAN work. and finally ringlets... I just... don't like how it clashes with the pattering on like, 90% of the genes and I have yet to see a dragon that makes it work.

I have seen Gembond look good, but my biggest problem with it is that it feels like the gems should not be on the wing membrane. Idk, it just looks bad on the wings, generally. Also I think the gems are distributed across the body far too heavily on some breeds. i guess my ideal gembond would be the gems are mostly on the legs and feet, maybe the hips and shoulders, smaller gems on the neck and head but sparse coverage there, and none on the wing membrane.

Whiskers. So much potential but only two sad feathers that are flatly colored and don't have the same personality as Paradise.
And Soap. Makes the dragons look like they are made of plastic. I feel like they would make an obnoxious squeak every time they move

I actually have a Sailfin Auraboa who I really really enjoy!

That being said, for me its Capsule. I hate that gene with a passion because... no. Just no. It looks unnatural and even the 'giant non-harmful blister' explanation does not help with it.
Wish. It's a GEM GENE, and it looks flat as hell and I really dislike the "twinkle, twinkle little star" design of it. To me, it looks like a cheap stick-on tattoo. The ones you can peel off the backside of a bubblegum wrapper.
I think the general idea has potential, but why make it so one-dimensional? Why the the pre-school stencil kind of pattern? I could forgive all this if it were a treasure mp gene (maybe) or a coliseum drop. But a gem gene? No way!
Apologies to everybody who loves Wish. I just ... can't see me liking it anytime soon XD

Stained. It mostly just makes the colors muddy. It CAN look good in circumstances, but mostly it doesn't. And I don't get why so many people are ready to slap Stained onto everything. It's a GEM GENE. It's expensive. Why do you want to to de-saturate , de-contrast and muddy-fy all of your dragon. (no offense)
At least Soap adds some accent colors and depth instead of taking it away.

Keel, especially when it came out. Glowtail before they fixed it, aswell. My, my, it was... very bad LOL

None that make me angry as such, but there are some I just don't enjoy for various reasons, a lot are already mentioned (Wish, Keel, Hypnotic, Mosaic/Breakup etc etc)
Top annoyance currently is Branches. Not on Veils, but on every other breed its been added too, they just look glued on, and not cohesive in the way that they do on Veils.
Another minor annoyance is the way Bee works on Aether with Linebreakers. Bee itself is one of my favourite genes, and its not actually transparent, the shadows of the back are drawn onto the the gene itself, which ..... just makes it look ridiculous with say..... Sailfin/Fans etc on Aether because theres just a 'gap' in the Sailfin where the wings are xD
Scry to illustrate my point - theres the 'gap' on the back behind the wings which is just so silly looking in this combo ..............

For this reason I doubt I will use Bee on Aether with a linebreaker that goes behind the wings xD It occurs on other breeds that share Bee + back relative linebreaker such as Sailfin (looks the same on Undertide for example) - its just its much more obvious on Aether xD
