I have only ten gathering turns, can't confirm I didn't get a gem but I can confirm that my dragons weren't hungry after rollover and should now be at 96% given when I last fed them.
I think we can assume that rollover glitched and disappointed as I am by the gathering turns, I think it balances out for me.
