I got this boy as a triple basic off the AH, despite him not really having super great matching colors (Sanguine | Stone | Beige), but found the perfect genes to make him into the handsome boy he is now!

I grabbed this faceted-eyed gal on a whim with the disgusting combo of Thicket/Silver/Beige. Kind of regretted my decision at first, but found I could pull some lovely accent colors from her primary and secondary to match her eyes. Added a very expensive accent and a festival gene to match and viola! I think she looks quite lovely now.

This beautiful boy hasn't gotten his coatl breed-change yet, but this is what he will look like when he does! Can you believe his colors are Dust/Mulberry/Beige [s](okay im starting to see a pattern here with these beige terts...)[/s]. Someone hatched him as a natural multi-gaze and didn't plan on keeping him due to his less-than-desirable palette, but I found this gene combo and was immediately in love. Just look at how handsome he is!

I got this little fella as a baby aether originally (if I remember correctly), and they had some fun, but kind of tricky colors. I ended up changing them to an undertide and found a gene combo that really pulled all their colors together nicely! They remind me of a dragon used in traditional Chinese dragon/lion dances.

oooh, toatl is so pretty! i ADORE weird color combos that end up looking great because of lucky gene accent colors, and toatl is literally the perfect example of that.
on that topic, though, weird color combos are also my ABSOLUTE favorite thing about G1s. i prefer weird, intimidating XYZs over all doubles, tbh, because it feels so satisfying to find that perfect gene combination for an otherwise questionable color combo :^D doubles are obviously pretty and i can't deny the allure of "rarity" that they have, but a G1 being a double is like a cheat code for matchy scries haha
so, first of all, the dragon i ALWAYS mention when a topic like this comes up: terminus' color combo is cornflower/sunset/vermilion. it sounds disgusting. it LOOKED disgusting when i scattered him as a triple basic obelisk. i almost re-scattered him without even bothering with a scry, but i'm SO thankful i didn't because, while i'm biased, i think he has one of the most gorgeous color combos i could imagine <3 :3

vex is abyss/algae/marigold, and IIRC he was (most likely) someone's abandoned gene project, because when i got him he had a........ very questionable scry in his bio. i guess someone could argue that there's a kind of a color theme in the blue-green range when it comes to his prim/sec, but marigold? and, tbh, algae just in general??? i wasn't interested until i realized how good morph looked on him.

lingon's colors are tangerine/forest/orange, and while it does have two orange-range colors, i feel like orange/green is just generally a kind of gnarly color combo that requires a particular approach to look good. bonus points if it looks good and also isn't carrot-themed.

i feel like a lot (if not most) of my G1s could call under the category of "curious or weird color combos" tbh, since that's the kind of G1 i usually naturally gravitate towards, but honestly that's too subjective for me to say :D
