i also had the problem of them not working at all, and it was the "show animations in windows" setting within windows settings that was doing it. i had no idea i had it off. ...tragic because oh, augh, i hate all of the animations that other things (windows, firefox etc) are doing with it on :")
i'm not sure if there would ever be a way for these to play without having to enable that setting, but that'd be great if possible! the effects themselves are neat

hi, I apologize if someone already told you this as I haven't read the rest of the thread, but i did find a work around for this! SO you do have to have the windows animations settings set to "On" but you can still disable most of the animations. How it works on Windows 10 is do a search for "advanced settings" and it should open up a dialog. From there, go to Advanced > Performance Settings > Visual Effects and you can turn off specific animations from there without disabling the animations entirely.

I keep the font smoothing on otherwise it makes everything look really ugly. I hope this helps you!

would've preferred the butterflies as static apparel tbh

i know other people have certainly already mentioned it but i would really love a full-view preview of effects somewhere, the small one in the database makes it near-impossible to see how shimmerscale will look on a lot of dragons. anyway, i'm a big fan of the potential this update brings! a few of these effects are really fun, and i'm excited to see what other effects will come in the future ????

Hey! If you want it on any dragon that you own and that is completed ( genewise) then yes! on the front page (or gamedatabase), once you click the effect you like, you will be shown a preview, once you put the mouse cursor over it, it will show you the option to stop the effect from moving, and on the right to that image there is a magnifying glass that will let you choose any of your dragons.

Thanks! I was going crazy trying to figure out how to see the dragon effects on the Wildclaw on the first page of this thread...or any dragon in this thread, actually. Turns out all I have to so is tap/click on the dragon in the thread and an option to see the effect pops up. I would never have thought of that on my own, so thanks again!

I LOVE this feature, but I hope we have some more affordable Effects in the future...there are a few I would happily put on all 140 dragons in my lair, but 200 gems a piece is a bit much....
Still, I can a few lucky dragons acquiring something over the next few days, once I have time to really sit down and look at all these. I already have some ideas for the Beryl Plunge, Glitz, and Shimmerscale Effects...(and now I have another idea for one of my "Wish Dragons" as well.)

Oops! Thanks @Sonoch, this has been fixed.
I'm not really a fan of this and probably won't use them, but it's still a cool idea and I'm glad others enjoy it! It'd be cool to see elemental-themed ones as a festival item.

This dragon is displaying an animated effect:
Puttin' on the ritz! Applies bright animated glitter spots to just the body of one dragon.
Like apparel, skins, and scenes, effects are purely cosmetic items that can be added and removed from dragons at any time.
