Every old building, musty forest, and abandoned town has a ghost story or two. The more history an area has, the more ghosts are imagined to roam there. In the Carrion Canyon, nearer the Ashfall Waste than the Tempest Spire, there is a structure with a storied history, one imbued with tales of ghosts and monsters. Once a prison, once hospital, once a tourist trap- this place has always provided more secrets than revelations.

The Carrion Canyon is a place known for death. Many who attempt to traverse it remain as its skeletal decorations, warnings for the next unprepared traveler. The only life that most see is the occasional carrion bird circling above, a portent of fate. Even the cacti and hardy reptiles that populate the mesas are rarely spotted in the jagged scar that mars the Shifting Expanse. The difficulty any living being would have surviving the Carrion Canyon make it an ideal spot for the less than living to exist in peace.

Creatures so despised by the world as to fear for their safety in even the most hospitable clans seek refuge in the canyon. The Citadel, the massive stone structure seemingly carved out of the canyon wall, is home to one like them- a monster. The dangers presented to the living who dare travel through the canyon act as protection. The lack of questions from the understanding host bring comfort.
