Yep, that happens to me as well! Any time you are hatching multiple things, there's always a chance other hatches could sneak in. And.. even if you are only hatching one nest, it can be split by someone hatching at the same time. There are never any guarantees with ID hatching.

I did catch one neat ID yesterday! But I missed the other one. And New Years Day was terrible XD December 30, I'll admit my luck was ridiculous that day. To answer your question, the only thing that worked for me was endless practice and the endless willingness to miss. I don't know what anyone else's computer/mobile set up is or what their internet connection is like or how good their reflexes are when it comes to swapping from waiting/watching to hatching. These are all factors that will affect the answer to "when to start hatching?".... And also how many people are going for a certain ID, which is unfortunately only a question that can be answered AFTER it has gone by. So no matter how practiced you get, there's still a lot of guesswork, and you are still going to miss. A LOT. I still do, even if it doesn't seem like it sometimes. The final run up to 100m was nonstop missing for me, haha. Anyway, happy ID hunting to you! May you land some beautiful ones in the future.
