It slumbers beneath the ground with only its spines exposed. This tiny terror is named after its similarity to a greater sandstrike.

Before this became home to so many lost dragons, the young dragoness Aphra decided to clean up one of the most densely overgrown sections of the Gladekeeper's domain and claimed it as her own to care for. Soon after she started decorating her new area with plants to help heal the ecosystem, a small, frightened, and hungry Willowmane Deerling stumbled in and helped itself to her food stores.

When Aphra went to grab a quick snack after a long day's work, she found the Deerling and felt sorry for it. It seemed it had just flown in all the way from the Tangled Wood, escaping its Veilspun predators! She felt that she should take care of the poor hungry creature and teach it how to eventually forage for its own food. The Deerling was clearly frightened at first, though once it sensed Aphra's gentle nature and lack of will to eat it, it quickly warmed up to her and soon became her familiar.

A few days passed before Aphra woke up one morning to find her familiar with a friend, a Hedgehog. Aphra gladly welcomed it into her lair, and was elated to know that her familiar trusted her enough to bring a friend. As time went on, the Deerling brought more and more new familiar friends along until the lair became practically overrun with the little creatures.

In time, familiars began investigating the lair on their own and saw that it was truly a safe place to be, so they decided to claim this as their home. Sure, some venture out from time to time, though they are always back in time for food. To this day, familiars from all over Sornieth continue to find refuge here; though secretly, Aphra favors the first two familiars who came here.

It did not take long for word to spread of Aphra's housing arrangements; eventually lost, abandoned, and orphaned dragons made their way to her lair to see if they could be so lucky. Of course, Aphra welcomed them with open wings and made flower crowns for them to celebrate such occasions. Thankfully, every dragon who has come here has been grateful for Aphra's care and compassion, though some either grew tired of the other dragons, they wanted to spread their wings (please pardon the pun), or they simply had their own reasons and left. Just as the familiars, the dragons were free to come and go as they pleased, though if they were permanently leaving, all Aphra asked was that they would allow her to say goodbye and give a going-away present.

Well heh, long story short, I'm an ENFJ who sees potential in the most obscure things and helps them to build that potential. In my eyes, everyone and everything can do something great, they just haven't nearly tapped into their true potential. I have an extreme passion for character development and storytelling, though I do not necessarily have a whole lot of time to really show it, as I currently have a Part Time (even though it's really Full Time) job and have to do college. ^-^ Also, if you couldn't tell, I loooove Blue and Yellow, especially when they're together.
