A clan intent on protecting the forsaken. After all, its head, Vitra, was lost herself. She has made it her mission to take in any who find themselves alone in the dark wastelands of the Shifting Expanse, and sort of... co-opted her mate, Bawx, into helping out. They picked up more than a few wanderers in the weeks to come, each volunteering to stay and assist the pair in their quest.

This, combined with the fact that everyone and their brother was suddenly having children convinced Vitra that her band of small-time rescuers was actually becoming, Stormcatcher forbid, a clan.

And so, she stuck an expertly-crafted spear in the ground and prepared to give a speech on the success the newly-christened Stormpike Clan would have in their new home. She was promptly struck by lightning.

After the inital, er, shock, the clan started collecting lighting for power through the use of spears, pikes, and any object they could stick in the side of the canyon and cable to the machinery. The clan's engineers constantly fiddled with it, to the mild irritation of the rest (who would have preferred consistent power, thank you very much), but they got along well enough. They moved eventually to a system of caves in the wall of the Carrion Canyon — it was agreed that the clan needed a place to call their own, and for the time being, this would be it.

Before long, the Stormpikes found that they'd filled their cave system. They employed teams of diggers in an attempt to expand, but before long, it became clear that since this all happened after long shifts at the plant, they were simply not capable of the energy output necessary to complete the expansion. Food supplies were running distressingly low. Breeding trickled to a crawl, and soon there were no hatchlings at all. Winter was coming, the clan was dying, and no one knew what to do. Until one day...

A cry of "Everybody out!!" rang through the cavern. As Fae and Skydancer, Mirror and Nocturne all turned their heads, there came a rushing noise — water, and lots of it, was filling their newly constructed cave. The clan flew out of their home as Adastra and Rhoviel joined forces in an attempt to magically halt the flow. The Stormpikes found themselves once again homeless.

Kazoo returned to a clan in total disarray. Fighting and starvation were the only two constants. Luckily, she brought hope; the Lancers were to fly once more to the horizons to meet some friends she'd made over the last few months. She spoke of a great sea, more water than most of their children had ever seen in their lives, filled with fish and sea plants (and yes, plenty of bugs and birds too); a vibrant desert of water, hiding all its life underneath.

Rosalind and Bruno were more than happy to teach the newcomer the ways of the waves. The sun and cool water melted even the most stubborn hearts with ease. They found an unoccupied shoreline near the Fishspine Reef, building both on and off shore. In only a matter of weeks, the Stormpikes were back on their feet and ready for a new adventure!
