I'm going to add my support for this. Gathering has been getting very frustrating lately.
TOPIC | Gathering: /actual/ Leveling *6 YEARS...
I support this too because i noticed the same problem. However, I would like to stand up for @twitchy too though because how the system works now allows you to get more food from gathering as you level up.

I dunno, I'm still neutral about this. I think the current system brings more challenge to this game. If everything was made easy, the game could quickly become boring.

Because I know I like to play a game where nothing works right, it's such a challenge and nothing is earnable or that I'm punished for gaining levels, cause you know, a challenge YEAH! Makes perfect sense!!! Whoooo!! Totally worth doing if there's no pay out! Feel the burn!!! Perfect logic!!! Yeeeaah!!! (Pumped up)

Support. It's not a challenge, it's just annoying and disheartening when I have almost no chance of filling my food stores because I can't collect more than 1-3 items per turn.

Again, everything that's been posted. The arguments here in support are all perfectly logical, and I think only one person has dissented. Has anyone considered pinging the admins here? This is important and I don't want this to go ignored forever. I want them to at least see this and say something...

SUPPORT! I think that an overhaul where every item in the pool is available from start to end is a great idea, with each item assigned rarities, where you'd be more likely to gather rarer items the higher level you were instead of less (drop rate for eggs increasing from 5% to 10% from level 1-5 or something idk). It'd also be nice if higher levels were less likely to come back with only one item, but honestly I'd happily take just my higher level hunting being more likely to come back with more rabbits. I have over 50 dragons to feed, and I'm struggling to do that by using every gathering turn every day to gather food, plus grinding for food in the Coliseum. The system may be working as intended, but at this point I honestly don't think I could feed more dragons than I have right now, and that is going to stop me from expanding more effectively than the prohibitive cost will. And I'd really like to be able to scavenge or dig now and then, but when I'm effectively living hand to mouth every day I can't justify it. So long, chests and penny jars, I miss you.

I personally like the challenge. Excuse me for having a different opinion :P
If the probability to get more rare items would rise, their value would drop.
I wouldn't mind if the amount of food were to rise a bit when reaching higher levels. But I think the rare items should stay rare.

Desperately support.
@Ikunoche: Rare items should stay rare, agreed, but they definitely should not become MORE rare as you level up, which is currently effectively the case.
In-between gathering being broken (lesser yield for higher levels), familiars being broken, the games being broken half the time, exalting being broken (the exalting yield for maxed dragons nowhere near proportional to the amount of time and effort to get them there), the coli being broken (utterly measly treasure/items payoff), and the economy in general being skewed in such a way that there are way too many treasure sinks like scrolls or the expanding lair costs that rise exponentially even as your treasure-earning ability stays linear, and no ways to effectively *make* the treasure for those sinks... I am coming very close to the point where putting up with the game wouldn't be worth it anymore.

All arguments in support are worded far better then i ever could.
I recently went to my fellow Shadows expressing how impossible it was to even supplement my food stores with what i gather any more, i gathered far better things at lower levels that i've given up digging all together because it's just not worth it.
The pool should be shrunk not grown with level.
I've got grabby insect eaters to feed.
