Support support support. A larger item pool doesn't mean anything unless the items in that item pool are actually worth something.

At the very least, we need more rare items to show up more often when you're a higher level. Leaving it as "lol well it's total random chance but your newbie friend has a better chance of getting eggs than you bc they're not max level" is. Kind of super super backward.

And the current system really encourages multi accounters, let's be honest here.

When I joined, I got plenty of good stuff for supporting a small lair: enough food, and I even dug up a gold chest pretty early on. Now I'm getting almost all junk, whether I'm hunting, fishing, digging, etc.
As a player levels up, better items should become more likely to obtain because the dragons know what they're looking for, and an average turn's yield of items should increase because the dragons become more efficient. More variety isn't a benefit when the additional possibilities are mostly low-value junk.

Support - maybe there could be a system involved similar to how the different chest ranks work? Say, the first few levels of scavenging/gathering you get a number of different items equivalent to what you'd find in a rusty chest - some junk and some money, then as you level up you can occasionally find multiple pieces of apparel, a familiar, more money containers, and so on.

Am I explaining myself clearly enough? Like, when you Awaken your familiars you get a top-tier chest with at least one familiar, maybe two bits of apparel, some "useful" junk, and a fair bit of money/ some gems. What if the same happened in Gathering? Maybe in levelled tiers of 5? 1-5 you get junk or basic food items, 6-10 you might get apparel and money containers in with the junk along with slightly better food items, and so on...

I agree, for awhile I wasn't getting enough food to keep my dragons fed, and at that time I didn't really know much about the coliseum, I didn't actually know you could farm food items. So I was faced with spending all my treasure on food or getting rid of the dragons that ate plants or seafood. That's part of the reason I left the site for so long. So I agree 100% for the food collection part of it.

But, at the same time, for things like scavenging or digging, there shouldn't be too drastic a change. Think about it, if everyone at a higher level is getting all these really rare items then it decreases the value of those items. Then there wouldn't be so much of a challenge to get those rarer items. So a nice middle ground might be to just increase the amount of penny jars or chests you dig up, or maybe have no less than X junk items or more of each one so you're still getting more than a level 1 would. The junk items do pay off after awhile.

@xAshe Except when those of us with high levels actually aren't getting rare stuff. day in and day out my level 25 gathering skills are gone to waste on 1 star *****.

The entire rarity calculation is just off.

When I was on Neopets, I was an active player, a dedicated player, and I worked really hard to get what I wanted. A new map set came out that gave out Krawk morphing potions, and though I played that as often as I could, I got nothing.
But, just because you personally aren't getting anything, doesn't mean others aren't. Because of the sheer volume of other players doing it, suddenly the prices of the ones multi million NP items were dropping to less than a million. So even if you aren't seeing it, someone else is, and because those other people are getting all these great items, the prices are going to go down drastically.

Yes, the system should be reworked but I'm not so sure it needs to be as drastic as some are saying. Just for scavenging and digging, increase a few things and definitely give it a boost, yes, increase those simple feel-good payoffs, like chests. I agree with that, but the people controlling this would want to be careful with it so they don't end up hurting the economy. Eggs are sitting around 80-90k, would we really want the prices to drop down to 30k because there are just too many of them floating around? That would likely create more problems than solve them. And that's just one example, of course, I saw another thread earlier saying there are too many dragons. If eggs are coming up too often that just makes that problem worse.

It's all very closely connected, and anything that the admins do to change this system could drastically effect the FR economy.

With the exception of food stuff, that one needs a massive fix and food isn't nearly as valuable as other rare items. It wouldn't do any real damage to the economy.

One of my gathering turns today, I brought in a single Sun Flecked Fieldmouse. One single two-point food. This should never happen at gathering level 25. I would argue this should never happen above gathering level 9.
