This would probably work for either secondary or primary gene (so I'll post it in both threads, I guess) - but, SWIRLS.
I think it would work great with colour variations, plus it's different enough from the ones we already have and aren't just another variation of stripes/spots.

prettier type (would work great as an accent on wings), and
the "busy" kind that I think would make for a decent texture on the body.

I'd love to see a Butterfly Gene - the wings are the normal secondary colour, and they're accented by darker hues of that colour [like clown and seraph use different shades] to show the lines on butterfly wings? As in,

this, and maybe some lighter airbrush-y hues to add some shine or something like a brighter hue fading to the normal hue? And then maybe some spots/other markings here and there?

I would be really happy if there were to be a secondary gene that looked like veins - made the wings look veiny. Depending on the color the effect would probably be more realistic or more marble-esque (like with the black, white, stone colors).

Okay, I wrote that earlier, but I never had pictures to go along with it, so I finally found some I really liked! Going along the dragonfly-like veins, or 'leafy' veins idea, I think these would be really great patterns:

Iridescent and Shimmer on Pearlcatchers need a fix. :/
I don't know what happened, but they look so different on that one breed. Not ugly, but not as pretty as on the others, especially the iridescent is hardly noticable with white and many other colours.
