AAAA PERFECT THREAD because i was going to PM this actually, not sure where to put this before!
i gotta agree with the butterfly wings. I see a LOT of skins around with them so i think they would be suuuuuper popular. I actually was curious what an idea of what it MIGHT look like as, so i colored these up some ideas as visual samples to curve my curiosity:
I randomly used the same Palate as my spiral, which is Lavender, Violet, Lavender, because shes like my favorite dragon so excuse my bias XD. The ones on the left are with the idea of unique, darker colors like say the freckling is etc. VS the right which is if you used a tert color IDK why i did the tert honestly ***** it looks weird in this dragons colorations where her primary and tert are actually the same. I made these up like a week ago so XDDD
I thought it would be neat for the color of the dragons wing to shine through the butterfly bits <3
TLDR: HERE U GO:

Fae dragons are a given they would work for them, i colored up on the Wildclaw to show just my own interp of what they might appear like on the feathered dragon wings.

How about an oily/oil on water look for the wings?

Or a diamond dust/sugar texture?

More workable, I suspect:
Leaf veining, or dragonfly style veining
Striping starting at the base of the wings instead of the ends
marbling
Rorschach blots [/quote]

[*]I love the idea of dragonfly-Esq/veining in the wings a great deal!
[*]How about instead of stripes we do drips. Kind of like the Feindish Snapper style, but following a dragons natural contours and in a color depending on what color gene it is on.
[*]We all remember these things as a kid, right?

[*] or Tie-dye
[*] A marbeling effect would be gorgeous!

[*]Crystaline or opal textures or colors (Due to prism popularity)

I just had a thought, you know how some hydrangeas flowers look like they have got an extra colour of a lighter or darker shade.
This made me think of a small simple (I hope) idea for a gene somewhere in the category of clown, iridescent (apologies for possibe incorect spelling), shimmer and etc. My suggestin woud be a fading gene. What I mean by my idea is that as an example, it could look a bit ike shimmer but have the secondary color of a dragon look like the main color is fading into lighter or darker shades. For example, take a brown dragon with a green shade of wings if it had the fading (gene?) used on the wings, her/his wings would look like their dark green fading slowly into light green.
Apologies that I don't have any pictures to make my idea clearer.

Galaxy:
A cloudy, spirally, sparkly, stary, wings of awesomeness
But yeah something that looks like a galaxy or nebulae in the wings of the dragon

I'm very, very pro something like banding; subtler than seraph, which is a bit too strong imo. Smoething more like stripes, except it would go in the opposite direction. Maybe darker near the top of the wing, more transparent near the tips, or vice versa? LIke hawk wings.

I was hoping to suggest a 'parchment' like pattern to dragon wings, make them seem old or aged, darkened in spots, crinkled as an old book's over-loved pages.

Stained glass, peacock, and butterfly wings! Yes, please! A starburst pattern would be cool too.

A pixel-y pattern on the wings, usually being a lighter color than the base color.
An example I put together:
