Okay! So, I got a lot of ideas. And an appreciation for snakes (you'll see); sorry about all the links, I didn't want to make this post super long by inserting a bunch of pictures-
- "Ebb" and "Flow": Primary and secondary duo that produces whirls, marbling, and undulations, like suminagashi or pietersite.
- "Arrowhead" and "Bengal": Primary and secondary gene set that creates triangular spotting, maybe with squiggling on the lower limbs and/or being a gradient, with the back, upper abdomen, and base of the wings+ where the wing membranes attach to the body having the darkest, most defined, and closely clustered spotting.
- "Grizzled" and "Stippling": Primary and secondary pair that creates the illusion of tipped coloration, which is when an animal, including cats, agoutis, and rabbits has a pinpricked salt and pepper-like appearance due to individual hairs displaying two or more bands of different colors.

So I was scrying some of my dergs as Obelisks and realized I REALLY want Phantom/Spirit for moderns.
I know it's not as flashy and gorgeous as some of the other Ancient-origin genes *cough* Shell/Web *cough* but it has a really unique texture to the markings that no modern genes can match.
The holdup I can see would be that it's a coli gene and adding more scrolls as modern gene drops is probably not optimal.
But a Swipp trade or Baldwin brew that utilized a Gao scroll (or two given modern genes are usually double the cost) would get around both the issue of flooding the coli with basically duplicate drops and the likelyhood of Phantom/Spirit (modern) tanking the value of the Gao versions when a more widely usable option comes out.
A trade would actually boost the value of the original scrolls (which would be good) without adding anything to the loot tables, and it's a system that could be used for other genes down the line (*Flecks!!!!*) that are coli based or don't come from the MP.
Please can we get some genes moving from Ancient to Modern? There been lots of crossover going the other way, can it please be time for a little reciprocity?

These genes would look absolutely amazing. I want this in game
It would be nice to have Flaunt/Flare for Veilspun, since it fits the Shadow “circus” theme and looks a bit similar to other Veilspun genes such as Loop, but is still distinct enough. It might look good on Banescale, too.

A gene that colors the head and neck of a dragon with the color's accent, like a bald eagle. The rest of the dragon has a subtle feathery look. It could be called something like Hood, Cap, Bald, or Shawl.
