[center]I'm sure there have been dozens of suggestions about this, but here is my take. The gathering turns are meant to be useful to feeding your Clan/getting enough items to do something with and the thing is, it's not.
I get a max of about 250 food points if I'm lucky and I mean really lucky when gathering in any food area. Usually it's more like 85 points of food for one type. A single feeding of my lair, even with empty spaces takes well over 250 points to feed everyone for a single serving.
We need more items to drop from the food specifically, I understand rarity if it's a swipp, baldwin or den task item, I really do, but I have a level 34 in Hunting and you're telling me I get 1 item and it's a single 2 point food item for a turn?
I would love to see food gathering at the very least get a revamp. I'm fine with coliseum food drops, but I know others rely on gathering and I don't see how they manage it.
So my suggestion would be this...

I both agree and disagree. I support this for the food need. Which some clans struggle to cover. Some people can't coli, due to hand injury for example. And making them rely on gathering right now leaves their dragons either capped at a lower number than other players, or starving.
The only issue I see is potentially: Too much extra treasure being flooded into the game. Yes, for the singular player it is a tiny amount. But across all players who gather it adds up.
What I could see as a band aid to alleviate this without messing up economy would be making a fooder item for each food type. Such as 'assorted meats', 'various fish', 'some plants', 'a handful of bugs' or some sort like that.
They sell for 1 treasure, but give lets say 5 food points each. And with each turn, you get a normal items like you do right now, plus 1-5 or so of the fodder item that has no use other than to feed your clan.

Please! I am always having to buy food because my lair is so large and I can't coli! I've been level 40 for over a decade but sometimes I'm lucky to get any food at all, it seems like. We need to be able to feed a maxed lair with just gathering. We really do.

any revamp that makes it so my fully maxed out gathering level dragons dont come back with anything more than a single familiar
i get that it adds a little spice to the situation like it's unrealistic that every time your dragons go out hunting, they're going to be extremely successful

We can have up to 18 gathering points with dominance, 15 without, so this is way too overtuned.
Yes, the current system is lacking and the average is a little low. But we probably need to get to an average of 50 points per turn. You'll have turns with more, you'll have turns with less.
But you shouldn't get the equivalent of a 2pt stack in ONE TURN.

Why not? I have a nearly fully maxed lair, I just used
348 Plants, 144 Seafood, 196 Insect and 36 meat with 181/220 dragons in my lair. I absolutely did the math and getting 172 food points per turn would help me feed my lair a lot more than grinding endlessly in the coliseum. I hit tons of sales from food too so I get it might take a hit and yeah, my food stores are all at 50k+ of converted food, but I understand a lot of people need more food than what we end up with.
There is zero reason to be pulling up with a ravenous hoard of dragons and coming away from a gathering turn with 2 food points.
I know it's not a perfect suggestion, but some people don't coli and you should be able to support your Clan for the day on your gathering turns.

And definitely agree with this. It should be a bonus, not a part of the gathering.
