I posted this in a thread in FRD about ancients and not being able to wear apparel a while back and I remembered that I could toss it here.

... What if we got a new ancient tert. Called something like "Cloth" or something and gave the dragon a very basic looking "outfit" based lightly on a theme. Each breed could be different too like maybe Banescale "Cloth" looks like singed robes whereas Undertide "Cloth" might have geometric patterns like the Current Caller Raiment fest apparel. I imagine then later we could get ones like "Armor" that's kinda like if Scorpion and Plating were like shiny platemail, and "Jewelry" that adds bejeweled trinkets like rings, necklaces, bangles and bracelets all over; and others that explore other themes.
And we know that gene generation uses a system that pulls from a palette so the coloring should be done relatively simply, and 177 colors adds a lot more variety than standard apparel sets.
Ancient gets new unique line breaking genes, ancient gets "clothes", hatchlings get clothes, minimal art, tons of colors... win win?
The only weird part is explaining how that's a gene. But then again we have Firefly, filigree, remora, and braids. So. *shrug*
...Would that be a good compromise?

oooh i like this
i was thinking the silk set could work really well as an ancient tert
i think proto-legs would be fun for undertides
tentacles and mop for aether
extra legs tert for aberration and aether

Koi and Capsule for Aethers would be great.

Adding myself to the Wintercoat for Aethers group.
Made a mock-up on my phone, look at how irresistably fluffy these moth dragons could become with the power of wintercoat

Tertiary for Aether dragons, inspired by the glow worm!

I love the idea of glowing tails on the Aethers, but the current gene Glowtail just doesn't do it for me. It takes up the whole tail, which feels really weird when there's a nice little bulb at the end that would be perfect for those little glowy tips on the end of an actual glowworm.
A tertiary that only covers a tiny spot would be boring, though, so I decided to take a play from the real-life glow-worm's playbook and include the glowing bars some species have across their bodies!

So here's what I ended up with. Behold, Glowbug!

Back with more Glowbug!

This time, on a gened model, with some edits from comments I've gotten. I also made one against a solid-color background to show how the glow effect might look against a background (similar to how firefly uses transparency to make a glow effect, the same thing is in place here)

Figured now was a good time to bring it back up because of the announcement about fest genes. I think Glowbug would make a great Light flight gene!

Someone has probably already said this, but Mucous/Smirch and/or Polypore for Veilspuns. I'd love for them to have some sort of slimy/mushroom tert.

I LOVE this idea so much, especially the last version with glowing horns/spines. Huge support!!

Calling this one Gilded or Ornate
This tertiary gene would add flashy, colorful accents to a dragon, especially on secondary color areas.

Rough concepts- excuse the mistakes. Might do some mockups for other species as well!

I LOVE this idea. possible tert saver for sure and such a nice detail!!

I have an idea for an Aberration exclusive variant of Underbelly - Two-Toned Underbelly! The two different head and necks would have a unique color, and when it gets to the actual belly the color is half and half of the two colors. I think this would be a great way to make use of the double heads for s unique gene!

Lover of Faes and Aethers
I am begging you to add Glowbug from further up the page ^^ It is a perfect little alien/spacey/buggy gene. I adore it. Please.
Also consider...... Tentacles for Aberrations? Thank you for your time. OH - and little glowing stars floating around Aethers as a tert. Bit more vibrant and silly version of Firefly, has an actual glow and less coverage than Sparkle.

I have a handful of ideas down here!
The first two are really simple genes, one which colors the back of the wing, and one that colors manes and general back details (though I don't know how this could work on spirals given their general lack of both)
