I find myself in desperate need of a belly tertiary gene that isn't so harsh in the edges. This is not good: We need a belly gene that fades to transparent like stained around the edge, for a soft and natural transition to go with the genes that overlap onto the belly like swirl, jaguar etc. It would likely go very nicely with fade/blend. This would be better: (done better, ofcourse lol)
hi i want this
Support! It would look really good paired with fade/blend

Just like Gaoler Wintercoat, maybe a "coat" to make some non-fluffy dragons a bit more fluffy? Currently Gaoler is the only dragon type that can get an extra coat of fur. Like... Snappers have NO FUR! Uh... and he about Spirals? Just a tiny bit more fur, like the fur extension for the ancient Gaoler.

Just wanted to make sure that the Blep had sufficient exposure on this thread (I think someone linked the forum post with art but I'm not sure links to other posts get reviewed, so I wanted to make sure it does!)

The proposed Blep is a tertiary-colored tongue doing the blep of internet fame, along with tertiary-colored paw pads and ear insides - which I love as a way to indicate this is the dragon's "inner" color, as well as target some areas that haven't seen much attention and can be trouble spots.

This would break the lineart on most modern breeds, though not ones that already have visible tongues, but I think it's an extremely forgiveable level of line breaking, next to Spines and Gembond.

Wild-colored tongues would be great for alien dragons, certain animal dragons, candy dragons, "sparkledog" dragons, dragons that eat popsicles, probably numerous fandragons, and just dragons that have difficult tertiary colors in general.

I do have my doubts that an official gene would ever be called "blep," sooo, trying to think of some alternatives ;P Maybe "Gecko" (regardless of tongue shape across breeds), "Colormouth" or "Colormaw" (like cottonmouth but not specifying a color), "Innerhue," "Monitor," and that's about all I got for now ;)

Edit: technically the Blep could be a (Marva?) apparel piece, but I'd rather see it as a gene

Pros of Blep as Apparel instead of Gene:
Line breaking is okay, can be combined with another tertiary gene

Cons of Blep as Apparel instead of Gene:
Can't go on hatchlings or Ancient breeds, fewer color options, can't be bred, probably wouldn't color the ear and toe beans
I have a longing for very simple genes. For example, A tert than simply recolours the mane of a dragon. But some dragons don't have manes! How about something like Highlight/Backlit? A tert that looks as if there is light in the tert color shinning on the dragon from behind. Example with splash on black, white and random colored dragon (the opacity of the tert is 50%):

I don't have a thing for secondary but boi I have things for a tertiary

So what about a partial stitch gene? Like a frankenstein's monster for dragons. Parts of the dragon are now segmented, with threads connecting the parts. The parts are a variety of colors, connected to the base colors of a particular color (like how orca is a white default, but it's variant colors include black, green, and sometimes blue). I dunno why you'd want this, but I think it's neat regardless.

Flower growths. With a very small outline overlap, the dragon now appears to be covered in a variety of flowers, thorns, etc, cover the arms, wings, neck, and tail of the dragon. The colors determine theme and seasonal appearance, perhaps tied in with flights.

Missing limbs/tail/wings. Instead is a stump, marked with the gene's color. Like if the color was cyan, the stump has a faint cyan fade around it. And/or, the limb that was behind it (and maybe some others), are shaded over in a darker version of the gene's color. Basically preventing the need for 900 different back color combinations. Basically choosing what flavor of suffering your dragon gets.

Finally, to go on a real sci-fi note, a mechanical core. It's place is similar to Capsule, but maybe with a cracked or visible interior, revealing a mechanical core inside. Whatever this core looks like, you do you, but there could be other areas near the wings or limbs that show off more of this mechanical nature. Start an entire "right who's the terminator" kind of world thing.

Mostly spitballing, feel free to steal these ideas.

Dots. I'm just wild for the high-contrast dots created by Radioactive Hex on Gaolers -- and it's the only the color that does this, the rest all blend in. We could have Banana dragons (black/brown dot on yellow) and Bandanna dragons (white dots on red) and Dalmatian dragons (white on black). It could be used in conjunction with Accents and clothing to make Appaloosa dragons. It would look *great* with Multi-eye and matching elemental colors. The layered effect on top of existing "broken" patterns like Clown and Freckle could be really neat and subtle.
I adore this! I make a lot of dragons that are alchemists and painters, they'd look great in this.
