Just an idea for a tert sort of. A "smoothscale" or "scaleless" version of a dragon that do not have spines/ridges.
Which led to further thoughts about subspecies or the likes. This would be a bit in the vein of the Ancient dragons, the mutant dragons would not be allowed to wear standard clothing- maybe only armor and the like to prevent them from having extremely odd results.

no support. the time/effort would be better spent making fully new breeds and a lot of people don't like the idea of a feature being locked behind an RNG breeding mechanic (see: eyepocalypse).

Could always be a "specialty" item in the gem store as well! There's many ways to deliver scrolls.

No support because of the of the amount of artwork needed versus the ultimate pay off. Support for breed characteristic apparel, but those are adding things to artwork, not taking it away. Taking things away from the artwork would, again, be a whole lot of work as it would basically require redrawing significant portions of the dragons to show what's behind the removed sections. Like, removing spines would require altering the artwork of the back wing, which now has more parts visible.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
Dragons aren't 3 dimensional and then a 2d image is taken from a certain angle. There's no artwork behind those spines and other elements you want to remove.
This is shown by some of the gene glitches where part of the image doesn't appear because there's a problem with the files.

This suggestion would require all those behind bits to be redrawn for every breed and pose and every single gene both existing and then all future ones.
That's a lot of work for a small reward.

The issue I see with this is that it would simply be limited in its use. It would be like having a 'shaved' tert that shaves the 'fluff' from the dragons that has it.
Like Crowbar said, I would much rather have brand new breeds than old breeds slightly changed from their norm (shaved, winter coat tundras, smoothscale etc..) especially since it would require coding to actually implement it (regular new terts don't require new coding, just plugging the tert into the existing code) and would be very limited.
However, I wouldn't mind ancients that were 'sort of but not' modern breeds.
So, it wouldn't look like the female RB just without ridges, but could evoke that idea in players. These would just be ancient dragons, no new coding etc... so they could be gotten out fairly quickly (at least more than a modern :P) and they would still be new breeds, albeit based off a concept of a slightly changed modern.
(but, since people are eagerly waiting for really mold breaking ancients, these would have to wait a while)

A ridgeback with rounded features would be freakier than ridgeback noses' already are to me XD.
But, I feel like this would be fun. Support, because if staff feels like a suggestion is too much work they are not gonna do it anyway. This would be very fun for the players I think. Maybe instead of being acquired through breeding or the mp, the scrolls could be an item you brew from baldwin. To cut down on the workload, they could make it for adults only so they wouldn't have to draw a baby pose.

I will put something here eventually.

I'm kind of in the boat that I would rather the time be spent elsewhere. I wouldn't be upset if the feature came out (only if it came with a scroll that could apply it), but I think I would rather just get more genes or new breeds. :o
The other issue is that the majority of these "mutations" would affect the lineart of the dragon. Meaning the apparel and accents wouldn't look correct as parts of the body are missing or moved around.

I already addressed this a little in the opening post "the mutant dragons would not be allowed to wear standard clothing- maybe only armor and the like to prevent them from having extremely odd results.". I think too it could tie in lore wise for those with mutations trying to fit in and look more normal.
