Nah, that's insensitive to assume they did. They just didn't consider how it could be bad for some users.

Hi everyone! Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that the rotated dragon images created a negative experience for you today. That certainly wasn't our intent.
Please know that I've forwarded your feedback to the team for review.
As there is an active discussion on this same topic in the Suggestions Forum, I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread so your feedback is in one space for team review. Thank you!
Hopefully will be resolved shortly.

@PearlConnor I highly doubt that's the case. The FR community in general is highly empathic, and incredibly kind people.
I believe that the 'only one day' crowd have already passed through the Stages of Grief and achieved Acceptance.
It's not that they don't care, it's that they've finished their feelings, and decided that 'As Long As This Doesn't Happen Again', then it's alright.
After all, staff has been informed that this has been a problem, so hopefully they'll remember next year. - Plus, programming a toggle for the Rotation will probably take longer than the prank will last.
And as upsetting as the whole Rotation Snafu has been, I don't want the dev's to overwork themselves. They're people too, and I trust that they didn't intend to hurt anyone.
Yes, I'm disappointed by the oversight of not having a toggle in the first place - but they've been so good about toggles in the past, they probably haven't gotten complaints like this before.

So why is this one, which IS causing problems, not allowed a toggle?
I can take a guess, it was probably an oversight by devs.
Tbh I thought which waystone deluxe was really annoying and didnt know there was a toggle at all or dont remember there being one.
The HD update was you "turned it on" and they would become msspaint bad art versions of the dragon. but were default if you didn't turn it on.
Devs probably just didnt forsee that players would have issues by images being rotated and flipped.
My no support post, isnt popular but i stand by it.
It should just be an opt-out option for the devs consider for next years April fools.
Edit: it will be around for, roughly, 6 or 7 more hours since my response here was posted and the daily reset happens.

oh, I know it is an oversight by the developers, I am just wondering why players dont' think it should have a toggle.
Actually, for the HD it was the opposite. It started out 'HD' and you could turn it off if you wanted.
Again, I consider this suggestion to not just be for this years, but also future ones, and even though it is probably too late for this years, most of the complaints were done earlier in the day when it wouldn't have been.

We have this complaint every year. I think a April fools toggle should be mandatory no matter what the prank is. Everyone in this day and age is overly sensitive and they can happy as can be with a simple toggle.
Okay everything else aside, people here are talking about a physical reaction, like motion sickness or vertigo. If you're on a road trip with a friend who throws up if they look at their phone in the car, do you call them overly sensitive or do you just not make them manage the GPS? (And for some people it's boats or even horses, not cars, so it's not like motion sickness is a new thing for Kids These Days.)
I'm sorry, I'm aware I'm being snippy and have no idea if anyone else has already pointed out how unfair that is, but I'm one of the people who has probably been made physically ill by this update--I woke up without a migraine, spent about half an hour on Flight Rising earlier today, and got off because one was starting; I can't say for sure that it was the rotated dragons' fault but knowing my migraine triggers it's a real possibility that it at least contributed--and when I'm in pain I get cranky.
Anyway, admins, please, a toggle for future updates. It's too late for me for this year--I'm getting back off the internet and away from the glowing screen--and probably a lot of other users, but please.

If they had the time to go and code this prank, I'm sure having planned a toggle wouldn't have taken much longer.
I understand people being snippy, because it seems like the site is becoming less and less accessible, and people excusing staff because it's temporary? That's no bueno,

While luckily it doesn't bother me, I fully support a toggle that literally hurts no one.

I guess i remembered wrong, i wasnt very active back then for the hd one. I logged on looked at it, then logged off lol
it is kind of strange that there just wasnt a toggle like the other years.
i hope someone makes a suggestion to extend the festival by one day like i mentioned earlier. that way anyone feeling they missed a day of grind due to this will have a chance to make up for it. i already made my thread in suggestions for the day otherwise id consider posting it myself at this point.
its too bad others are having a super hard time cuz of it.
as for me I no supported for this year, cuz like you said, at this point its a bit too late, but next year yea its probably a good idea,
they'll have a chance and plenty of time to right it and write it so we have a toggle feature for the prank they come up with then.
we only have to put up with it for just 7 more hours

Again, those 7 hours might be the only time this week someone has to grind.
As I said, when I had dialup, I usually had about 3 hours a day, from 8 PM until I went to bed, which was usually about midnight, but not always, to surf the internet, because I had to leave the phone open for calls. That was for ALL the sites I went to, not just one, so I know I would have been very irritated if something prevented me from grinding in the little time I have that day.
Other people might be in the same boat. FR has people who work and might only have an hour. Teenagers who are in school or are being schooled, and have home work, people who might have to use a library/borrowed computer.
7 hours can still be a long time for people especially if they really wanted to do something.

Yeah, I hope next year they remember to put a toggle. Last year’s April Fool’s prank, the Waystone, was annoying to me after a while, but I was able to toggle it off.
Unfortunately, it seems like it is a bit late to put a toggle for this year’s prank (would be a pleasant surprise if they did, though).
However, I wouldn’t mind if MistJam was extended by one extra day. Some people missed a day of grinding.
