If you are unnerved by multiple eyes and mild eye related body horror within the same degree as Plague Primal/Multigaze, then looking at the art here probably isn't for you. Please keep yourselves safe!
Alright, with all of that being said, given the degree of freakiness FR is comfortable implementing, I see no reason not to embrace this for potential eye type suggestions and some of them WILL veer to the uncanny because I personally love that stuff. I have a lot of ideas, so I'm compiling all of them here instead of spreading them out over a million different threads.
Without further ado:
'Treefrog'
and an example of it in Plague colours:
This is based on the eyelids of the Red Eyed Treefrog. There's a fine sort of lattice covering the eyes, but parts of it are transparent, and I think it's wicked cool. I'd love to get some dragons with it. I'd say this could be a Natural type, because it's from an animal.
'Cuttlefish'
Based on the W-shaped pupils of the cuttlefish. We have Goat eyes, why not some more fun-shaped pupils? This would definitely be a Natural type.
'Twin-Pupil'
I just think it looks cool. Thinking this one would be a Baldwin Unnatural.
'Mitosis'
Again, something a lil wacky to get from Baldwin.
'Starburst'
Loosely based off of a bunch of different frog eyes, haha. This might be a nice Treasure MP or Swipp Unnatural?
'Third-sight'
Forehead eye! Very versatile. Either a Natural or a Gem Marketplace eye?
'Cyclopes'
One eye! Another likely Baldwin contender! It's kinda hard to do a single eye while covering where both the original eyes need to be, but I think this gets the impression across!
'Vacant'
A desaturated, cloudy eye for all your 'this dragon is blind/a zombie/etc' vibes. Probably a Gem MP Unnatural?
'Heterochromia'
Suggested to me by a friend while I was showing the eyes so far. We'll never get True heterochromia with completely different colours in each eye, but a lil section in each/either eye with a flight-appropriate accent colour (probably pulling from the Rare eye palette) on top of the Common eyes. This would be a Natural eye, I reckon.
'Enraged'
Expressions! Only possible if you cover the eyelid, so, this dragon has flight-appropriate eyeshadow now. This would probably be a Gem or Swipp eye.
'Adoring'
Hearteyes! These might be cute as a valentine-themed Unnatural that cycles in with all the other stuff every year in either the Treasure or Gem MP? Or they'd drop in the Coli.
'Liner'
Something a lil more abstract? The colours probably need playing with but I'm envisioning something with some colour contrast, especially with the lining part, haha! A Swipp Unnatural.
'Lashed'
I think it's funny! Probably a Swipp, Coli, or Baldwin Unnatural.
'Tearful'
I feel like this could be surprisingly versatile? Sort of a poor man's Shadow Primal in any element, but I feel like the transparency involved and the lack of change to the base Common eye would ensure it's distinguished from it a little. Would love to see this in the Coli or as a Treasure MP vial. 'Vial of Sadness' or something.
'Cluster'
This one's a little freaky, but no more than Plague Primal, I feel. Definitely see this one as a Baldwin vial.
'Argus'
Tbh this is what I want Multi-Gaze to be ahaha. Eyes! Everywhere! I'd make this a Natural eye up at the same rarity as Multi!
Thoughts? Obviously these are all just art concepts and don't necessarily meet FR's style, but do you agree with potential places that these eyes might go?
I'll be making some Adult Dragon mockups of some of these soon.
Issues raised:
Hard to see on some breeds - not really anything I can do about that, unfortunately! That shouldn't limit more eye types for the breeds that do show them, though!
@krondar has done some lovely adult mock-ups for a couple of the eyes!
