I think there should be a scroll of breeding ancients and moderns. They would look so cool with mixed genes! It would be very expensive and rare, but I think it would be a cool thing to have. Anyone agree?

Unfortunately, I don't think this would work. Not being able to breed with any other breeds is one of the 'downsides' of Ancients that we've known about since we first heard about them - it means they can have their own unique sets of genes. Furthermore, 'mixed genes' wouldn't really be possible. Like limited breeding, having a unique gene pool was one of the things we always knew Ancients would have. If they could have every available Modern gene through breeding, and vice versa, that entirely negates the benefits of giving them a unique gene pool. It would mean that the artists would have to draw every gene, Ancient and Modern, for both sets of breeds, which most likely isn't ever going to happen. The fact that Ancients get a more limited and unique set of genes is something we've known about from the beginning and it's part of what makes them possible for the site to continue making. Sorry, but no support from me.

I'm afraid I'm with ProbablySkeletor here.
I thoroughly agree that the concept of blended breeds is cool! Unfortunately, someone has to do all the work for those (literal dozens) of crossbreeds, and in the meantime we're getting no actual new dragons... just ones that look a lot like what we have already. We're also probably getting no new apparel, no new genes...
As a compromise, I'd love to see official art of crossbreeds and suchlike (winter coat tundras!).

I could see a boon that would allow such a thing, but it would likely be one use only and would make it so the offspring would either be triple basic or could only have the genes of the parent of the same species. Potentially cool for people who'd want it for lore reasons, but i don't think i'd use such an item.

I understand how this could be used for lore but the mixed part, it would take so much time to do since the artists will have to make art for all the modern and ancient genes for all the species.

No support. The coding would be a nightmare, what with ancients having genes moderns don't have and vice versa. There'd have to be a dozen flags and exceptions added to breeding it'd be more confusing and trouble than it's worth.
And I'd rather have Breed Characteristic Apparel than hybrid crossbreeds. (Jemadar's signature links to that thread if you're interested.)

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?

No, I don't agree.
The point of Ancients and their lower price point, breeding limitations and smaller array of genes is to get them out faster.
This suggestion undermines that.

UK time. Sorry for timezone-related delays in responses. They/Them.
I am not sure if it's actually possible. but just thinking about it for fun it sounds cool :D

I'd support if FR had the kind of money at their disposal to hire dozens of artists for a livable wage and benefits. But sadly, they just don't have that kind of cash lying around.

It takes Twelve Years for one Imperial pair to produce a Primal-eyed offspring of a specific sex. Goal-based breeding is dead.
