Yes yes, rp isn't the focus blah blah whatever.

Nobody's asking for this do be done asap. Just, eventually. When there's time.

There's no change being made to the breeding mechanic, no change being made to the info of the dragon (ie, they can still have the 'male' or 'female' symbol on their page, just a different image being displayed).

Literally the only change is how you can switch a dragon's image from male to female in the scrying workshop when you're looking at colors.

If the scroll can be 'worn' like a skin, then it will take up the skin/accent slot, meaning you can't layer incorrect skins/accents over a dragon that, y'know, doesn't have the right image being displayed.

Nothing will have to be redrawn, nothing will have to be recoded since these dragon breed as if they were still their original sex (because, they ARE, as far as the game cares - they just don't look it), and everything's hunky dory.

If you had a dragon you hatched grow up and become ready to breed, only you forgot to refresh it's image, so it looks like there's a baby sitting on a nest, would you care? Would the system care it looks like a baby is breeding? No. It's just an image. Same thing here. Literally an image change.

Idk why people are so hateful on this site when a large portion of the population is in some way part of the queer community. Again, I realize RP isn't the focus of the site (I don't even rp myself because I don't care), but it's important to a lot of people, and even if they don't rp or do anything else with their dragons, what's flipping an image going to hurt YOUR dragon game? It isn't.

I love this idea.

I would probably get one for every male fae I have so they can use the female image.

...and all noodles present and future would thus use the male image.

It would be glorious.

Support - as for "this is a breeding sim, rp doesn't matter, please stop having fun" like why not get rid of accents and clothes too?? Those take up time to maintain and code. Also the forums, too much time taken to moderate. Get rid of the images for dragons, too much effort to generate and requires artists' efforts. Just have a plain white page with color and trait markers for your dragons. The perfect site.

Support! I really like the proposed system in this post, much more than others. Cosmetic changes would be superb, especially still being able to breed dragons.

Have all the fun you possibly can, but when the fun of a small number of people has the potential to cut into the fun of a majority (and the target audience of the site), it's not cool. The point is, this is a suggestion geared towards RPers and Flight Rising is not an RP site. It has RP elements and a place for those so inclined to go and have fun with that, but RP participation is down to the individual user and those who RP are in the minority. Furthermore, those who want changes (such as this one) coded around their playing preferences number even smaller. If you want to have a dragon's sex and gender not match up, role play it. That's the point of role play. You take elements from the setting and you play them to your hearts content, adjusting what you want to adjust in the form of writing or art (usually). It's the same as fanfiction or fanart. You take the existing information and alter it until you have it how you want it. You can have fun with that, if that's your thing. Play stuff all you want, that's the whole idea of role playing . However, expecting the site to have this coded into it is just ... not feasible. This site IS a breeding sim -- a selective breeding sim, even. The point of it is to breed dragons with the physical traits (genes, sex, breed, colours) that you want through generations of narrowing. Sure, so you can dress them up (apparel is a money sink and important to the site as well as an element that will keep people coming back for collection's sake-- all important), get them pets (they generate money and items and can serve as a money and gem sink themselves) and make and apply skins an accents (which bring gems into the system). The forum is an important place for the users to socialise, argue, debate and have fun with each other as well as facilitate sales and trades of dragons and items. This is all extra stuff, but it all has a purpose. It generates or uses up money, real or otherwise, or allows people to do that. This idea would take a very long time to code, it would be divisive beyond the scope of this thread and it would take time away from more important things, like games, features and fixing already existing bugs. I know you don't want it ASAP, but even when the bugs are fixed, there will be more stuff for the codesmiths to do that appeal to a wider audience, so any time spent on this suggestion would, in the grand scheme of things, be wasted. Given that it's a breeding sim, it's important that the male dragons and female dragons (sex wise) look different to each other at a glance. That's the point of different poses and sexual dimorphism. TL;DR -- if you want to play that your dragons are trans or whatever, knock yourselves out. Seriously, have all the fun you can with it. Just please stop asking for the site to be coded around your playing preferences. Time should not be taken away from important elements of the game, such as the fairgrounds, new features, bug fixing and the like, to appease a tiny number of RPers who want their dragons to look like the opposite sex's sprite. There's a note/bio section on every dragon's profile for this sort of thing and there really doesn't need to be anything else.
