@loreshark its intentional, as the original design was based upon whale falls irl, and the extremities usually end up eaten/stripped of flesh before the spine, causing the bones to fall onto the sea floor before the spine/ribcage does. the spine and ribs are held together with cartilage which takes longer to break down than flesh. irl the bones would be more scattered, but i found the design got lost so i kept with the shape of the fathom.
