Oh my gosh I was also considering a fey for my demon's glamour but I'll go with something different for y'all xD

Both ocs are awesome looking Eskria, I love the picrews! Plus the white stars on the wings sound so, so pretty <3

Tumbleweeds I really love the wings, they're drawn spectacularly but I dont think it would ruin how cool they looked if they didn't have them too^^

@Tumbleweeds
(Unsure if subbed, sorry for the ping fi you are >~<))

So, unfortunately necromancy isn’t available to any of the characters right now, especially to students. The info is there just to give background (and maybe for some future thing that will happen *cough cough*) It’d be super easy to see if a person has necromancy, especially in a school setting, and because the school doesn’t teach necromancy it’s nearly impossible to learn.

The way magic alignment works is the soul analyses the magic it is exposed to when a person can temporarily use all primary magics in a very weak state and will then choose the one that’s best suited for the person. Because the school does offer necromancy classes, students cannot learn necromancy. Other than that everything looks good :)

SALEM
“Have you ever looked up at the stars and said ‘f*ck you,’ or is that just me?”

BASIC
FULL NAME: Salem Ignoctus
AGE: ?? [birthday: Oct. 29]
PRONOUNS: They/them
GENDER: Nonbinary
SPECIES: Demon - disguised as an elf
SEXUALITY: Gay Demisexual (masculine)

PERSONAL
APPEARANCE: Salem’s skin is purple-grey, with long, dark purple hair- which is usually tied up in some form so they can function. They’re about 5’11”, with slit-pupiled, amber-orange eyes and long, pointed ears. Salem has large, bat-like wings on their back, a thin tail with a diamond at the end, and horns atop their head. Their hair is, again, very long and often tied up, and most times, glasses are perched on their nose.

With their glamor magic on, they appear as a pale elf. Salem has a lean build, with notable muscle in their legs and arms. Their eyes are the same shade of orange-amber, and their hair is a dark brown instead of purple. Freckles dot their face and their pointed ears are pierced. They almost always have eyeliner on. Usually, their wings are tucked up on their back or under their arms, their tail is hidden in clothing, and they hate anyone touching their head- they wear no hat, so have to avoid contact to stay hidden.

Salem’s clothing tends to vary. An olive-green jacket is often found on them, the hood lined with fluffy white fur, along with the inside. There are lots of pockets on the outside, and they’re often filled with a multitude of things. They wear a white shirt most days, under the jacket, along with jeans and boots. Their clothing is rather large and baggy for the most part.

They can dress in a formal manner- and quite like to. A dark purple blazer is usually their first step, followed by a white button-up shirt underneath, with a tie. Black pants are on their legs, and rather fancy boots are their go-to. They also do like wearing dresses- a dark blue-purple one with glowing constellations is their favourite, even if it’s more a cloak than anything. They wear that on top of a simple white dress, and if they can find a nature witch, a few roses in their hair.

PERSONALITY: Stressed, depressed, and trying their best. Salem’s the sort to hide any and all emotions they feel under a mask of chipper excitability and a false aura of being easy to read., while maintaining a certain degree of seeming impossible to get to. They have a very ‘go-with-the-flow’ sort of attitude, and it’s rare they take a stand on anything. Salem likes to practice their magic- it’s amazing they’re not a music witch with how often they sing and dance- in their own way.

Under that false aura of happiness, Salem’s a sad individual. They’re a perfectionist in all areas and if they don’t do well at something, they fixate on it. Doing it over and over again until finally, the demon meets their own ridiculous standards. They’re very good at maintaining the facade of never losing their cool, but that means them showing any sort of real emotion is a struggle- and a sign of trust. They crave affection and validation above all else, but they’re a demon- all the people here would hate them if they revealed themselves, and that thought can keep them up at night.

MAGIC
MAGIC TYPE: Cosmic
THEME: Solar - a bright, white, fire-looking theme, though spiraling colors can be seen in it. Sometimes, it can manifest itself as more ‘space-y” and look like constellations.
ABILITIES: Most adept in offensive and utility magicks. Salem likes to use their skill to mess around, though is also quite good at offensive magic. They prefer to use it creatively, though.
SPECIALTY: Salem specialises in using their magic to flip around and perform an elaborate ‘dance’ of sorts- as they flip and push themselves around, the demon also casts their more offensive spells.
FAMILIAR: A tiny wyvern by the name of Trial. Trial is a small, mostly reddish wyvern with small horns, gold eyes, and two very oversized bat-like wings. He has fans stretching from his head to his tail, and can be a bit feisty, though is almost always willing to forgive something in exchange for a treat. He likes sleeping in the sun and naps, and is almost always found curled around Salem’s shoulders, sleeping.

SUBCLASS MAGICS
GLAMOR: Extremely skilled. Thanks to Salem’s demon heritage, they’re extremely proficient in glamors. They use it on the daily- after all, they are a demon. Salem does use it sometimes to change their glamor’s appearance slightly, and is good enough at it that they can keep it up for a good amount of hours.
FLYING: Salem’s pretty good at flight. They like flying- it’s a time they can be free- but don’t get to practice often. They love it, but don’t often get a chance to.
ENCHANTING: Salem is terrible at enchanting. They love trying it, but are terrible at it. Or at least they say that. They’re not that bad, but also by no means good. They just… don’t understand the concept, and are really terrible at creativity when it’s forced upon them.

BACKSTORY
Salem was born in a small town on the coast. A peaceful village which two demons just so happened to live in, escaped from the islands their kind lived on for millenia. They had a child- a demon, of course, and that child was named Daemon (day-mon).
As a very young child, Daemon was never seen by the village, really. They weren’t overly proficient in glamor magic- they were young- and as such, never really had the opportunity to interact with others. They never minded, though, and were content to try to cast “magic”- mostly glamor magic, though from a young age they showed affinity with cosmic magicks.
They had a few friends by the time they were five or six, when they could glamor themselves to look like an elf. Daemon was known throughout the town as a reserved sort of kid, very quiet and timid, anxious to a fault. Not the overly chipper person one may recognise today.
That changed at age ten or so. They got in a fight- a real, proper fight- against one of their peers who was picking on one of their friends. During the fight, Daemon got injured by the young witch’s air magic- quite badly- and that was when the demon snapped, using their ability to absorb magic without a thought. Thankfully for Daemon, they were alone, but the demon never forgot the look on the ten-year-old’s face as they realised they couldn’t cast any magic.
It scared Daemon. Badly. The rush of power was more terrifying than the blood dripping down their face and arms, the bruises covering them where the witch had gotten some good punches in. They felt like they held the whole world in their hands, could alter anything, and yet it felt so wrong. So foreign and alien and like they had stolen something beloved- which they had.
Daemon tried to apologise, tried to explain they had no idea what happened, but they were cut off by the witch running away, sobbing. And so Daemon sat there at the steps behind their school, trying to muffle the emotions they felt, trying to not start crying too because of how they’d messed up by acting on a primal instinct. A primal instinct they’d never felt before, and one they regretted acting on instantly.
They went home that day, miserable, and explained to their parents what had happened. Their parents freaked out, saying they needed to leave, move to a different place, lest they be recognised as demons. Daemon was confused- why would people be scared of them?- but their parents insisted they had to leave, and soon. Daemon accepted it, glad to get away, but also a little sad to let go of the friends they had.
Regardless, they ended up moving to a larger city, where Daemon was happier, externally at least. Their parents still were rather harsh about the magic draining incident, and it felt to Daemon like they got worse. Their expectations for Daemon always seemed to be high, and that led to the demon forcing those same expectations on themself, always needing to be better, stronger, more powerful. It felt like nothing they did was ever good enough, and they also began to realise how unhappy they were with themselves and their appearance. Sure, they could glamor themselves to look however they wanted, but still it felt wrong, and after some time spent discussing with one of their friends, they began using they/them pronouns, which felt… much better.
Around that same time, the demon began to practice their magic, excelling in it in their own strange way, by flipping around and casting celestial magic, using it in their own way. Mostly in secret, as with their parents, they had to be formal, as they’d grown stricter in the time. But eventually, not even their formal magic would satisfy the demon’s parents, and they sent them off to Rutora, Academy of Magics.
When they went there, the first thing Daemon did was start using the name that felt right- Salem. But they’re excited to see what happens, and hope they’ll find people there who care about them, treating them better than others in their life. Even if Salem doesn’t hold much hope, they still want to learn magic in this new, strange way and who knows? Maybe they’ll make some friends.
